7 years agoOne of the coolest little shops around. Bought an amazing magnetic knife rack with inlaid wood. Could have bought a lot more if it would fit on the plane.

8 years agoLoved all the wooden trinkets and toys my children had a blast playing in the store the host was very gracious of my children and will definitely be coming back as we couldnt carry everything we wanted to buy :)

5 years agoThis place is magical. Tons of different toys, puzzles and decoration pieces made out of wood. Everything is hand made and uttermost quality. Really, really worth the stop.

9 years agoIdea Factory has been a neighborhood staple in the Quarter for over 30 years. We've always loved this locally owned, unique little shop. American hand made toys, unique home goods & gorgeous wind up sculptures. all made out of wood. Say hi to George for us!

9 years agoBeautifully crafted wooden toys and gadgets. This store is always mesmerizing. My three-year-old adores this place! Don't take your child there if they like to run amok. It is a small shop with lots of intricate beauties, all carefully handmade. Such lovely work deserves resect and care.

6 years agoWhat a gem of interesting collection. I was surprised at how reasonably priced things were given the heart of the French Quarter location. Very friendly and helpful owner too. We were visiting for a film festival from Denver and this was the perfect spot for a gift to bring back home.

The Idea Factory is a gem and a special place amongst the tourist scape of New Orleans. Punny shirts and shot glasses made in China are a dime a dozen. From the art and the artists that are showcased within to the gentlemen that keep these doors open, I cannot think of another space around the City of New Orleans that has made such an impression on my curiosity. Dave and Bill have become wonderful sources of conversation for me, who travels for work for long periods of time. I would go as so far to call them friends. If you are in search for that unique piece to bring home, look no further than the Idea Factory. Most items are made of wood and are unique, almost one of a kind! You can find kinetic sculptures, clocks, puzzles and toys. Dave, who owns the Idea Factory also keeps a fair number of antique books and photography for sale that fit into the decor of the Idea Factory that gives this incredible space an old Americana feel. From the art and the artists that are showcased within to the gentlemen that keep these doors open, I cannot think of another space around the City of New Orleans that has made such an impression on my curiosity. 10 months agoI love this store, as they have some of the most unique items I have seen. The repurposed bank vault safe that I purchased is so unique and a great reminder of my time in New Orleans. I look forward to returning some day as there are lots of treasures there yet to be discovered!
