I desperately needed some caffeine and the line at the beignet cafe on Canal was waaaay too long for someone in need of coffee. I rounded the corner to head to a different cafe and saw the signs out front advertising a local coffee house. Now, I'm a big nerd. So when I walked in, my day was immediately made brighter. Everything about this little joint is just perfect, from the arcades lining the wall to the decor (Mario perler! Coffee cup lights! Velvet chairs!). It's not ostentatious or gatekeepery. Simple coffee and fare- I had a latte and croissant. Or maybe a muffin? It was simple and yummy. I was comfortable while I slowly sipped on my much needed coffee. I desperately needed some caffeine and the line at the beignet cafe on Canal was waaaay too long for someone in need of coffee. I rounded the corner to head to a different cafe and saw the signs out front advertising a local coffee house. Now, I'm a big nerd. So when I walked in, my day was immediately made brighter. It’s a small business, so don’t be in a hurry; the person taking yours and everyone else’s order will also be making your coffee, and as far as I could tell, there was only one person in the kitchen, so food and service is a bit slow, but all the games are free, so make yourself comfortable and enjoy while you wait! When I arrived the shots of espresso were just sitting in the plastic cups. The person at the counter was on his phone and eating and did eventually finish our drinks, but really those drinks should have been remade. It's pretty gross to just let espresso shots sit in plastic cups for however long and then add them to drinks. Everyone was very nice but that was a total bummer and not exactly cheap for what I got. If you have an amazing product or great food but bad service that’s a zero out of five for me but this place…customer service was great. One couple in front of us was ordering when we entered and he (the staff) was patient while we looked over the menu then answered all of our questions respectfully. The food was amazing too.
