As far as a Magic shop, it's terrible. The prices are bad, the employees will open up TCGPlayer and price cards at Mid in front of you and then tell you they have to price them that way and if ordered yourself shipping would make it the same price. Sorry, but that's wrong and even if it was correct the logic doesn't make sense as the shop doesn't have to pay for shipping materials OR risk of loss to sell to me directly in store. As far as selling, they offer you pennies for your cards and turn around and label them in the case for 3x as much as they pay you for them, which again, is way over market price. They don't even offer more for staples or standard meta trending cards, stuff that will move in less than a day they still pay bottom of the barrel prices for. As a venue, if you just want to stop in to play magic and like the competitive environment, it's great, which is why it has earned one star from me. As a shop and business, this place is bad. Go down the block to one of the many other Magic stores in Eugene that won't rip you a new one. Also the tall employee that always wears black shirts is rude, to everyone, every single time I've been in there. I always seek out any other employee to interact with because he's atrocious. Not only were we able to purchase each card we requested, the staff helping us was knowledgeable enough to identify and grab each card with only a name. My husband was amazed that he didn't need to spell any of the card names nor repeat himself. The person helping us gave suggestions without it feeling like upselling. He saw I was looking at getting card sleeves and shared samples for me to see the colors in real life instead of the color printed on the boxes. Great prices and support your local game store! I'm sure the margins for a local game store is as thin as rice paper, and this might be the reason there's commonly a 2:7 ratio of employee:customer in line at any given time. Which is a great sign for business coming in. However, if there is only 2 employees behind the counter with 7-8 people in line, maybe that *wouldn't* be the best time for 1 of those employees to go off and search for 10 of the most specific and niche mtg token cards for the customer at the very front of the line. I wish that customers would have self awareness enough to know when their requests are unreasonable for a given situation, per the example above, and also I wish that employees in general could be supported when they need to say 'Now isn't the best time,' and then a fair solution for all parties involved could be reached. Hot tip: if you ever sign up for an event, get there early to sign up, but don't expect the event to actually start until 10min after it was scheduled to. At the earliest. However, I do believe and acknowledge that the employees there do the best that they can, and they are very pleasant and delightful people. Show less

The have the most patient staff every and they go above and beyond for all their customers. They also host a lot of events. If you need a card, not even necessarily magic cards, go here first. They also give great advice about decks and are VERY knowledgeable about magic and what would be a good addition to a deck of not. If you have a card in your deck, they probably know a better card from a different set that you've never heard of that does the same thing better and more. Just a great place overall Show less

Got banned after selling some mtg cards to a friend(outside the store btw not even in the venue itself) that turned out to be fake. Which I didn’t know. I gave the money back to my friend the same night and was even told by Ryan (employee) that nobody believes I did it on purpose. So I show up about a week later and am told that I’m not even allowed in the store, let alone to sign up for events. Instead of calling me and talking about it the owner decided to ban me even though I did everything within my power to make it right. Utterly ridiculous. Because of my job, this was my only source of social interaction I had every week. Now I can’t do that anymore. I can’t go to the one place I felt welcomed anymore. Ended up selling my entire collection since I can’t play MTG anymore. So thanks I guess AB. Really appreciate it. Also, don’t sell or buy singles here. They charge way too much and pay way too little. If it’s singles you’re after, you’re better off going to Mox Valley Games since they give fair prices. Show less

However, I do not recommend buying singles here. Went in and bought a portrait style non foil single "six" from magic the gathering. I was charged an almost 40% mark up from the standard market value of the card. Paid 14.50 for a card that's selling for 10.73. I have no problem paying a little more to support a local game shop say 10%or even 20%. 40% mark up is to much for me. Their sealed product is little high but fair, however go online for singles. Next time I went, I asked to look through the same cards as the first time and they rudely told me that they don’t allow just browsing and I had to ask for a specific card. I ended up buying a 5$ card and was rudely told I wasn’t allowed to hold it until I paid for it (I had my money in my hand waiting to pay). Don’t even try selling cards here… They offered me 10$ for a 50$ card in NM condition and some other total low balls (This was for trade in value, not even a cash offer, couldn’t even imagine what they would offer for that). Giving 20% market is laughable. Not sure why anyone would sell anything here. Show less

2 months agoBrought about $150 worth of cards into this pace and they quoted me $68 for trade in which is diabolical since if you’re trading in usually you get a better deal! Do not go here if you want to sell your cards unless you want 20-40% market value. You will have better luck selling on marketplace!

This is a pleasant, clean, uncluttered Local Game Store. Play area is nicely set up and well-lit. Staff are helpful and friendly. The store puppy, Halo, is ridiculously cute and very well-behaved. Pricing on card sleeves is excellent; their Dragon Shield sleeves have a good selection and are better-prices than anywhere else I’ve seen. Pricing on singles is also generally reasonable and aligns with tcgplayer. The Maushold IR 226, for example, currently runs about $30, which is competitively priced. I’d buy singles from this place in a heartbeat. Their accessories (e.g. the Lorcana Pirate Tigger playmat, dice, etc.) are also well-stocked and fairly priced. Unfortunately, like many LGS’s, pricing on packs (see video) is sometimes insane. $45 for an unsleeved ES booster pack is bonkers. Even on TCG these run $30; $45 is straight up unreasonable for unsleeved Eviling Cries, Moonbreon or no Moonbreon. Lost Origins & Paldean Fates are similar sky high- $16 & $15 respectively for an unsleeved booster is crazily over market. In the current craze, some percentage is understandable, but this is steep to the point of needing climbing harnesses. Overall, this is a decent LGS. While I can’t really fault stores for cashing in on the current Pokemon craze to a reasonable level, AB’s pricing on packs is just too high to be anything but gouging. Overpricing packs like this puts buying out of reach for anyone except resellers and WhatNot, which isn’t a lot of fun for the average player/collector/parent. I do recommend the store; I regretfully recommend grabbing packs elsewhere. Show less
