1 year agoLove Bosco's! I go there for my Warhammer 40k stuff, and the staff has always been friendly and helpful. I wish they kept more inventory on hand, but the special order service works just fine.

Bosco’s on Spenard is the place to go for anything from sports cards too D&D. They do not just sell cards, comics, books and games, they also have in person trade nights and a good size room for table games and events. One thing that keeps me coming back is the monthly drawings for free merchandise. It’s not like they are giving away 20$, I’ve seen the value of the items be upwards of a few hundred dollars. No other shop shows appreciation for their customers like bosco’s. If you have sports cards that are worth something they may even buy them from yah, just know there are lots of cards not worth much but it’s worth making the trip. Show less

The Spenard Location is larger and has a wider variety on mini's, games, and cards. They also have delicious cookies and their selection is good. My issue is with some of the staff, I am very feminine presenting for context. When I was in the Spenard location yesterday, several staff members were discussing Three Barons Ren Faire with a customer. They were boisterious (understandable I also love the Ren Faire) but then the topic of being excited to "be able to call women Wenches" came up. At least one staff member was exclaiming with a customer about how its "the one time a year you can call them Wenches." And "They love it!" I was around the area and heard them speak on this for about a minute till the customer left. This was happening at the front of the store. Loud enough to be heard from the first half of the store. After the "event" I stood next to the pins and stickers, where an employee who was engaging in the prior mentioned conversation, refused to even meet my eyes much less acknowledge I was there. I stood there for a moment, waiting to be acknowledged so I could ask a question, but never was. After I left the counter he then helped a young gentleman who took my place about a minute after. There was around 3 people at the counter when I waited... This isn't the first time I have failed to be helped at counters in the Spenard Location till my husband or someone else comes up behind me. And I get it, sometimes its awkward to talk to people. But combined with the loud conversation it was deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. Feminine presenting people already have an issue breaking into "nerdy" culture and to have staff not treat people the same. Or loudly exclaim about their excitement to call women names, even in "good fun" is not comfortable to hear when shopping. The location at the mall is much better even if the amount of inventory is much less. Show less

7 years agoPROS: It's an excellent source for your comic & geek fix + there's a great selection of sports cards/memorabilia. CONS: It's far too small & when there's an event or sale it gets WAY too crowded.* They do have a restroom though. *(would have scored higher if facilities were larger)

Fellas behind the MTG counter are always insanely helpful whether I’m asking for input from fellow deck builders, searching for specific cards, or general inquiry about the game. Came with my wife the other day to build her first deck and they helped a ton- as usual. Then whenever a rude customer came in and started breaking policy (putting their hands in the same box we were looking through) the guys handled it calmly and professionally. Then the jack wagon of a customer just stared at them and abruptly stormed off. Without missing a beat, they were right back to helping us. Wanted to give them kudos on this. Show less

First, let me say the store is very well laid out, extremely organized, and has a great flow! Second, there is probably something here for nearly everyone, except what I wanted, which was a selection of older, mid to high grade books. Oh, and slabs. They didn't have those either. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the crowd size was decent and fluid. I'm sure I will stop in again 🙂 and I may even adjust my rating, if I can convince myself it's me, not them.
