My friends and I did the Island Escape. We loved it. None of us had ever tried an escape room adventure, so we had no idea what to expect. Our guide, Kayla, explained what we needed to know and then the countdown started. We had 60 minutes to find and solve all the clues in our room. It was very challenging! There were cameras all around the room so that the guide could watch us and offer an occasional clue when we were completely lost. This was a God-send and extremely helpful. Ultimately, our group did not quite succeed in escaping in time. We were partway through the very last clue when time ran out . That was pretty good for first-timers, we were told. Our group had a ball at Breakout Games and we already have plans to return. Show less

My friends and I did the Island Escape. We loved it. None of us had ever tried an escape room adventure, so we had no idea what to expect. Our guide, Kayla, explained what we needed to know and then the countdown started. We had 60 minutes to find and solve all the clues in our room. It was very challenging! This event was the perfect blend of puzzle-solving with the excitement of making new connections! When we arrived, we were welcomed by their friendly and knowledgeable staff. Their multiple different escape rooms ensured that all participants had a great time! Breakout Games Pittsburgh was able to run all 6 of their escape rooms at the same time for our participants! The intricately designed puzzles were both challenging and engaging, requiring teamwork and quick thinking to solve. Throughout the rooms, there were tasks specifically designed to encourage collaboration and conversation between participants. Breakout Games Pittsburgh exceeded all expectations, delivering an unforgettable blend of puzzle-solving, adventure, and social connection! We can't wait to go back! Show less

We were stuck at one puzzle for 20 minutes and the fame master should have done a better job on hints/nudges to move on from that one puzzle. This place is great except for when you go at 10:10 pm (even on a weekend) bc the workers are not nice! We signed up for a 10:10 appointment (which is what it literally was scheduled for), so we got there about 2 mins before. The one worker (short brown hair, glasses, white male) was VERY rude and t... This place is great except for when you go at 10:10 pm (even on a weekend) bc the workers are not nice! We signed up for a 10:10 appointment (which is what it literally was scheduled for), so we got there about 2 mins before. The one worker (short brown hair, glasses, white male) was VERY rude and told us this place is "like a movie theater", so we should show up much earlier. Which honestly makes no sense bc they show ads before a movie so it makes sense to show up later for a movie😀 Awful analogy aside, this guy was nasty and they gave us only 45 mins instead of an hour. In turn, this lowered our morale and this was the first time we didn't finish a room. ADDITIONALLY, in the last 10 mins of the game we asked for a hint and no one answered LOL they left us Show less

Okay riddle me this: If you book a session for Friday at 10:10pm, show up a couple minutes early, and the official timer begins at 10:11pm, how much time do you get? 60 minutes like you paid $140 for? No, you get docked 15 minutes for not being 15 minutes early, only allowing your group to have 45 m... Read more

Okay riddle me this: If you book a session for Friday at 10:10pm, show up a couple minutes early, and the official timer begins at 10:11pm, how much time do you get? 60 minutes like you paid $140 for? No, you get docked 15 minutes for not being 15 minutes early, only allowing your group to have 45 minutes in total. After asking, the rude dude with glasses harshly explained that the 15 minute penalty was to allow them time to set up the room (why would it not already be set up?), clean the room after, and re setup the room for the next day. Okay… why not do that at 11:10pm, after our hour was up. We were kicked out at 10:46pm. Other staff have been amazing, and never caused issues with the fact that we weren’t all present 15 minutes ahead of time. This was our 5th and final time going as a family. Terrible end to the night. Show less

I will say this, if you have never been to an escape room, your first time you may want to go with someone who has. I’m pretty sure we would’ve been completely confused, but not everybody would... So fun! I had never been to an escape room until this visit which my son gifted to my husband and myself. I will say this, if you have never been to an escape room, your first time you may want to go with someone who has. I’m pretty sure we would’ve been completely confused, but not everybody would be that way. It was a ton of fun! Lots of hidden items and clues. My son and daughter-in-law are pros at this so they just kind of nudged us along in doing it and try to let us figure the things out. We did not end up escaping because we were off by just a couple minutes. The worker did allow us an extra five minutes to be able to say that we figured it out, but we didn’t technically escape. Would love to come back and do some of the other rooms. Definitely worth it if you are someone who loves riddles and mystery! The worker was really nice and helpful. Recommend!!
