1 year agoThe ambiance was amazing! The venue is a little tight and I saw tensions growing between people that were smooshed together. The service was nice though and I enjoyed the truffle fries. I’d visit this venue again!

I went to City Winery to catch up with a girlfriend. The food was great! The wine was delicious and the service was fantastic. Jahlani made sure that were taken care of and didn't miss a beat. Love this place!

5 months agoWell I do like the warmed up pita they serve with the dips 10/10. However service is not very quick… I feel like no one even noticed we were here except one person and I’m not sure he was even a server! He went above and beyond!! I think he was a hostess but he did amazing to take care of us!

Last night was our first visit to the venue, and overall, it was a fantastic experience for a live show. Our group came out to see two tribute bands—The B-52’s and R.E.M.—and the atmosphere was electric. The B-52’s tribute band was absolutely phenomenal! Whoever came up with the idea for this group was either a genius or had one brilliant idea over drinks. They nailed the look, the sound, and the quirky antics of the original band. The energy was contagious—they had everyone singing, dancing, and completely engaged. Truly a feel-good performance by a great bunch of performers. If you get the chance to see them, don’t miss it! Then came the R.E.M. tribute band, which was the headliner. Things started off strong, and the crowd was excited to hear those iconic hits. But a few songs in, the lead singer veered into political commentary. Some audience members responded with applause, but many others clearly checked out. When he doubled down, people began to walk out. It was disappointing to see the momentum shift because of an unnecessary detour. Personally, I respect everyone’s views, but I believe the stage at a tribute show isn’t the place for political soapboxing—especially when the audience is there to escape, not be divided. If a band leans in that direction, the venue should give a heads-up in the event description so guests can make an informed choice. On the upside, the service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and offered great recommendations. The food was delicious—we highly recommend the large dip tray with a variety of flavors and a standout hummus center. The skewers were also great, with two hearty servings per order. The staff overall was fast, efficient, and clearly hustling to keep things running smoothly. Surprisingly, the wine selection was better than expected for a music venue. We tried the Cabernet, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc—all were very enjoyable. If you haven’t been here before and you’re thinking of catching a show, I definitely recommend it. Despite one misstep in the night, it’s a great place for live music, good food, and a fun night out. I love City Winery’s (here & around the US) for having great music, but it kind of sadly ends there. The stage, lighting & sound are always great. The room is upscale & nice looking. I dislike how tightly packed the tables are, how challenging it is to maneuver in & out of seating, and the fact that unless you’re a group of 6, you are sitting elbow to elbow with strangers. This results in awkward bumping, nudging, sometimes spilling. If you plan to eat there I recommend doing it before a show begins or outside the music venue in the restaurant area. I do enjoy their City Bubbles cava ($14 a glass or $56 a bottle is pricey though for me). The small plate concept at the Pittsburgh location I’m not a fan of, I’ve eaten there 3x & the food for the price has been lackluster. I go for the music. The other beef with the Pittsburgh location is how ridiculously (for a brand new building) small the ladies room is…TWO stalls, one handicapped, one regular. One sink, no room to stand or wait except in the hall. It’s absolutely horrible & hard to believe the lack of forethought put into it given it’s shared by the bar/restaurant & music venue. There is another restroom upstairs by the balcony, but that’s not easy to access if you’re downstairs. As I said, go for the music. Show less

Well, you really can’t miss that up. But as a restaurant, it’s laughable. Not only is the food way overpriced, you get appetizer-sized plates. Ok ok, sure, American portions are usually huge, and you know, maybe it’s great. But the food is average. I’m paying overpriced, undersized money for average food? And now it’s mandatory???? City Winery, how about you improve the quality of your food? Maybe that’s why you enacted that rule? Only recommend for the events and wine. The food? It changes every now and then, but all 3 times, it’s been absolutely disappointing. Show less

My wife had a mobility scooter and the staff was very helpful. Fortunately she was able to walk to her seat otherwise the floor was very tight and I'm not sure the scooter could have fit in the aisle if it was necessary. They were not able to open the doors as early as scheduled due to delays on the sound check which caused longer lines and delays in orders. However, the management handled the situation professionally and the staff supported the challenges to make everything run smoothly after the doors opened. Overall very satisfied and expect to revisit. Show less

I recently had the pleasure of attending a concert at Pittsburgh City Winery, and I can confidently say it’s a fantastic addition to the Strip District! I saw Robby Krieger, the legendary guitarist from The Doors, and he was nothing short of phenomenal. Hearing all those classic Doors songs played live was an unforgettable experience—Robby is still an incredible force on guitar! The venue itself is modern and well-maintained, featuring outstanding lighting, sound, and acoustics. We sat in the balcony area, which offered a great view, but honestly, there isn’t a bad seat in the house! The staff were friendly, attentive, and always available when we needed drinks or food, making the experience even more enjoyable. This was my second show at City Winery, and both times were a blast. I can’t wait to go back for another performance! The location is also very convenient, with a parking garage right across the street—only $10 for several hours in the Strip District. Plus, there are plenty of excellent dining and drink options nearby to enjoy before the show. The Strip District is the trendiest area in the city right now, especially with all the new developments around the Terminal Building, where City Winery is located. If you’re looking for a great night out with fantastic music and a vibrant atmosphere, I highly recommend checking out City Winery! Can’t wait for my next visit! Show less

However, there is a recurring customer that has been at every show i have gone to and I have somehow been lucky enough to sit behind them and have my whole experience ruined. The lady is drunk falling over herself, falling over my table, standing in my way so I cant see the stage, and staff just let it happen. It is disappointing because we would love to have a membership and attend all the drag functions, but we will likely never return as this person always seems to be at these events. It sucks to spend money to watch a show and instead be distracted by a drunk woman. Show less

This CW is straight outta the '90s in style, has some of the worst food and service I've ever had, and I won't risk going unless I have no other choice. In other words, I won't take a chance on new (to me) artists here as it's not worth it. The seating layout is uncomfortable, awkward, and needs serious help. It's not rocket science, but you can sure tell there's no rocket scientists at hand. I have myriad stories, but just today - the host got snappy thinking that we didn't have enough tickets when I arrived to be seated, and made us jump through hoops to prove it. My friends' drinks were missing half their stated (on the menu) components and the server got snappy when asked about it, and then brought over things to add that were still incorrect. I ordered two drinks and food all at the same time, I received one drink. No one checks on you during the show. When checking out, upon realizing I never received my order, I got no apology and they charged me $16 for a Jameson. For a place with so many locations and a reputation, you would *think* they coukd do better. I will literally look to go to other cities before settling for seeing someone here. Show less

The beet dip was way too bitter I I could not get behind it but still I could see how some people would like that and good offer. The cream cheese dip was also really really good and personally I like the red roasted pepper dip just a little bit more just barely but they gave a really strong showing. I definitely come back and check out their Mediterranean menu and see what else they have. I did sample the wine that they had. I'm not a wine person so it did not appeal to me, but I'm sure their wine is perfectly fine. I just do not like wine Show less

We had such a mixed experience here today. We came for the Beyonce drag show. First, the good! The drag queens were great and the vibe was awesome. They get five stars. The bad? Woof. Our server was probably the worst server I’ve ever had. She spent most of the time hanging out at the bar and ignoring her tables. The poor people next to us were there for OVER AN HOUR before she came to take their food order. We saw her once after the show started and even then we had to ask someone to grab her for us. We couldn’t even get refills, which is wild at a drag show. She was incredibly rude and short with all of the groups around us. At the end when we were paying our checks, a different server came and helped cash out our tables because we were all waiting so long. In fact, I think the group next to us dined and dashed because it was unclear that she was coming (vs the bill being tied to our tickets). That’s how long it took. It was the WORST service. Absolutely horrendous. I saw other servers hustling, so it sucks we got someone who very much couldn’t hide the fact that they didn’t want to be there. We ordered a meat and cheese tray. It was mediocre; not really enough food for the value nor good enough quality for the cost. I ordered a mocktail - apparently they got rid of all their mocktails and to no one’s surprise our server didn’t have any recommendations for alcohol free drinks except coffee. So I ordered a cold brew and cream and the cream never came. Cold brew was fine but the value was lacking as well. Wanted to love it, especially since the queens were so spectacular! It was horrendous and I can’t imagine we’ll ever come back, even for the queens. There are plenty of other drag show options in the region. Show less

As others have stated, it's a great venue with mediocre, overpriced food, cramped seating, and slow table service. The balcony seats are a bit less cramped than the floor seats. We've sat in both areas for various shows. The balcony seats on the ends have the air conditioning blowing directly at you. The food prices are absurd for the quality. There's a $25 minimum per person purchase requirement. The servers in the balcony area weren't very attentive. Suggestions for improvement: 1) Increase spacing between the floor seats. 2) Small changes to the food quality would make a big impact (fresh cut fries, thicker burger patties, etc. ). 3) Put an air deflector on the ac vents above the end balcony tables. 4) Servers should be monitoring tables on a regular time schedule. 5) Allow people order their food and drinks in advance on the website. 6) Provide handicap parking and/or valet. It really is a great venue and there are a lot of great artists who play here. I think a few small changes would go a long way to improve the experience. Show less

The Rahum Davagh concert was absolutely amazing! The vibe was definitely on point, the acoustics were top tier, and the performance was very entertaining. I truly enjoyed the show. We were seated fairly close to the stage, which was great, but the tables are way too close together. It was a very tight squeeze with little elbow room and not much space to walk between tables. Unfortunately, our waitress seemed overstimulated or overwhelmed. She forgot to take my husband’s order, as well as the order for another couple seated at our table. The biggest disappointment was the restrooms—they were atrocious and completely unacceptable. They clearly had not been cleaned between shows, which is not okay for a venue of this caliber. On a positive note, the food and wine were very good. I had the grilled chicken, apple, and brie sandwich, and it was excellent. Overall, great concert and atmosphere, but the restroom conditions really need serious improvement. Show less
