Been going here for years do to it being the only card store in the area… it’s alright, a lot of the new people that work there are great and fun to talk to, but some of the tenured people that has been working there for YEARS has been some of the most off putting, negative, and rude people that I’ve ever met. It’s crazy to go to a store that you want to spend money at, where the people working there hate you for coming in and asking for service. Been going here for years do to it being the only card store in the area… it’s alright, a lot of the new people that work there are great and fun to talk to, but some of the tenured people that has been working there for YEARS has been some of the most off putting, negative, and rude people that I’ve ever met. It’s crazy to go to a store that you want to spend money at, where the people working there hate you for coming in and asking for service. The WH40K section is small, but incredibly dense. They sell the boxes at 10% off Games Workshop price, but when a box I was looking for had already been sticker marked for a greater discount, they just went with that price. This is a welcoming establishment for MTG enthusiasts. Hands down one of the biggest selections of single cards to purchase from in addition to several box sets and boosters. There's a Pokemon TCG selection, Warhammer, D&D and MTG (probably several other things I'm not aware of) and several tables available to sit down and play. This store also hosts game nights and competitions. I just started visiting DCG with my partner and my son, we really enjoy stopping in for a commander night or just for cards. So I am completely new to magic and I came to this shop to do some trades and purchases. After I got through my trades, I was very interested in a MTG Foundations booster box. They proceed to tell me that they have a "deal" going on with booster boxes and you get to purchase the booster box for a discounted price. So of course that's going to peak my interest so I ask for one. Once the employee rang me up they said the total amount and I corrected them saying that it should be cheaper since they're running a "promo". They proceeded to tell me that the booster boxes msrp are $220 when they're actually $130-$140. Me BEING COMPLETELY NEW TO MTG, I trusted the employee and made the purchase. Until now, so many people have told me the actual msrp for the box is. Wasn't even a collectors booster. Just the basic booster box. After I found out the msrp, I feel nothing but dissapointment that I was taken advantage of by the employees here. As someone that's just simply trying to get into the tcg world and my first booster box purchase ever was someone lying and taking advantage of me. Way to introduce people into the world of Magic. So I am completely new to magic and I came to this shop to do some trades and purchases. After I got through my trades, I was very interested in a MTG Foundations booster box. They proceed to tell me that they have a "deal" going on with booster boxes and you get to purchase the booster box for a discounted price. So of course that's going to peak my interest so I ask for one. This place did a great job of helping me trade in a high volume of MTG cards that I did not want anymore for what I felt was a fair value. That in itself can be a very hard quality to find in a gaming store, which they deserve props for. However most everything else left a lot more to be desired. Most of the store's stock is behind the counter meaning you have to ask if they have any of whatever card you are looking for. Over multiple visits I received both friendly customer service, and felt like the employees were annoyed by my questions. The store itself is fairly bare bones and has an unpleasant smell. Despite the stereotype this is one of a select few gaming stores I've been to with this issue. My final visit was marked by subpar customer service and poorly behaved customers including two magic players shouting obscenities across the room at each other. It is definitely not the kind of store I would recommend to anyone new to the hobby, but they seem to have a very devoted client base so its definitely a great fit for some. Show less

Dont get me wrong, they have a solid selection of cards but like a lot of reviews say. It smells. Also really bad interaction with whoever was working the store. They were chiefing a vape and on the phone with some other company (seemed personal not work related) and were already audibly upset with whoever they were talking to. Took them a while to get to me while I was only one of two people in the store due to their lengthy phone argument. A younger mtg player (14-15ish) was trying to trade in some cards and buy a single he was really trying to get. Anyways the guy working gave him some attitude saying he was busy but he guess he would look. Said they wouldn't take some of the cards and he was unable to get what he wanted. Fast forward a couple minutes after being denied. I went and asked the kid to see his binder and agreed to buy a few cards out of it so he could snag the cards he wanted from the shop. The worker blew up on us saying that we couldnt do that here and literally told the kid to give him the $20 and told him he had to spend it all there since it was sold in HIS shop. Definitely rubbed me the wrong way and I feel bad for that kid. The kid literally told me it wasn't his first bad experience and he had to just "put up with it" because its the only shop he can travel to from his location. I personally will never be back. Smelly. Money hungry. No love for the future of the game from what I saw. Maybe the environment for some but definitely steer clear if you dont want to roll the dice on if their employees or owner are in a good mood or not. Show less

I'm not usually one to complain about customer service, and I usually don't leave negative reviews about a place. But I have been to this place many times because it is close and convenient. I have had 1 (ONE) good experience with the staff here, and that was a few years ago now. Every other experience, the person has been extremely rude. Any time I ask a question, they scoff a little bit like it's not their job to answer questions about the game. Any time I call them on the phone it seems like I'm being the biggest inconvenience ever, even when I try to be as fast as I can. I would say your best bet is to avoid this place. or become homies with the owner. Show less

Honestly if I could give this place ( Zero Stars Rating ) I would, but sadly I can't. I know that seems harsh but after visiting this place not once but twice and the awful experience I had both times I have been there, it's a fair assessment. Why am I giving ( Denver Central Games ) a bad review ? The customer service is awful and down right just bad. They are rude and disrespectful in every meaning of the word. I know what you are thinking and your probably thinking the same thing I was thinking when I decided to go back for the second time. Why go back again after your first bad experience ? Simple, I needed a card and I called around to all the near by card shops and no one had the card I was looking for but Denver Central Games did. That's what so awful about this review, this place has the potential to be a great place to go and play your favorite card games but some of the people and staff that work there ruin it because of how they act and how they speak to their customers. They do have a huge variety of things, ranging from cards to mats, dice, and more. I'm not saying the shop itself is a bad place because it's not but what I am saying is some of the people and staff there are. So with all that being said this was my experience and my thoughts about it. I make this review not to upset or to hurt anyone that works there or goes there, but I make it with the hope someone at Denver Central Games see this and reads it and addresses this matter to people and staff that work there and puts some kind of plan into place to help make some changes for the better. Even then it may not be enough because seeing some of the other reviews this has been a ongoing problem at Denver Central Games with the owner making promises that he would address the matter and apologizes and then nothing changes. How many times are you going to address this same situation and apologize for the same ongoing problem, before you finally realize what you are doing is not working? To me, that sounds like the definition of insanity -doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. Like apologizing instead of fixing the problem. You can only apologize so much where eventually those words hold no meaning. The staff needs a huge re-work in addition to training around how to talk and treat their customers. To stop smoking inside the place of business, stop being on their phones, and to be more kind and thoughtful to others. Working on some of theses key issues are important to having a safe and healthy space to play games and to hang out. To the owner of ( Denver Central Games ) Please don't feel like you have to reply because I can probably take a guess on what you are going to say. So I'm just going to save us both the time just don't. Show less

Sure the prices may have been a bit more competitive online, but they were able to g... Read more

I had hopes and dreams of building a dumb frog deck because I simply just like frogs, the staff took five hours total over two days theory crafting and helping me pick singles for a deck I could use in casual play. Sure the prices may have been a bit more competitive online, but they were able to go through my 150 card list and build a workable deck with what I brought in and was able to take the cards home that day. Super eclectic crew, they know their stuff and seems like a cool place to go throw down some cards. Show less

Charged $22 for $9 of commons/uncommons (16-17 singles). Never again. It's worse than Card Kingdom online except you're not even paying s/h. I'll drive to go to literally any other shop where at least pricing is transparent and consistent. Shop is dank and grimey. Bits of trash all over the floor. Feels like it's treated like a teenagers bedroom, no pride whatsoever in appearance or cleanliness. I might not mind the severe mark up on prices (since it's a smaller shop) if the customer service didn't make me feel like an inconvenience. Just a total amateur hour at small business ownership. I used to be a regular customer and participant in their events. It's probably an alright place to play MTG these days if you are alright with the unkempt atmosphere. The long time employees there give low effort and are uninviting. I've stopped back in recently to inquire about buying Pokémon cards for my son and was disappointed by the customer service. I stopped by a few months later to discuss a new game I had discovered and was dismissed. DCG used to be a place to go to build a gaming community without the snobbines that can accompany many of them. Now it's just a place to rip packs and tap mana. Show less

Every time I call to ask about a single I am interested in purchasing and the owner answers the phone he looks it up and always says "oh yeah that's an awesome card." For the low price of $5 you can reach into their mystery box and pull packs from sets as far back as gatewatch 2016. Mitch, Cody, and sky are all very knowledgable on MTG lore as well as the physical locations of said cards. Phil the owner is a treat to meet! Great store. They price their cards close to card kingdom VG price. Worth it to not pay shipping and get a glimpse at their enormous selection of singles. You may just find something you want without even knowing you needed it in the first place. This place may seem rough around the Edges to some more inexperience tabletop gamers, but for those who are looking for a safe haven to play some games, get some packs, and have a laugh: this is seriously where you want to find yourself if you're ever in Denver. A single glance will tell you how much in numbers these fellows do in pushing magic singles as well as packs. EDIT: I wish I could give this place six whole stars. I just strolled in to get one of the new Commander decks from the 2025 dragonstorm set and the clerk gave me a free collector's foil with my purchase. Show less

I have very mixed feelings about this shop, I hope that this review is taken in good faith by the employees because I truly love to support my local game shops and want to see them thrive. I have very mixed feelings about this shop, I hope that this review is taken in good faith by the employees because I truly love to support my local game shops and want to see them thrive. For what it is worth, I come here decently often. The big reason is because the card selection here is amazing. 8/10 times they have the card you’re looking for. It’s the biggest strength of this shop, no other in the direct area has the amount and variety they have. The issue with this store is the attitude of the employees. I don’t need them to suck up to me or be overly polite, but a few of the employees (not all, but enough of them) treat you like you are an inconvenience for simply existing in the shop. It really sours the experience, and often despite knowing they will likely have the cards I want, I will exhaust other options and look at several different stores before coming here because I simply do not have the energy to be treated like a nuisance from the moment I enter the door. I try to be as polite as possible regardless, as I do not know why this is the attitude and try not to assume negative intent. But if it weren’t for the attitude problem, they would probably be the sole shop getting my business. It’s notable that many others I know avoid this shop for the same reason. Show less
