Used to be the best game store in town. Some of the staff is great, but they aren't the ones you usually interact with. The main guy at night is rude and will refuse to sell you stuff if he "doesn't feel like it" and ignores people constantly. Food used to be decent simple stuff, and now it's 11 dollars for 3 bad chicken strips and 10 french fries. Other reviews have highlighted negative behavior by the employee I mentioned as well as the owner. I have heard many accounts similar to those. It's not a rare occurrence for these two. They have been rude to many groups, some being impaired in some shape or fashion. It's sad when a game store goes from the best place in town to whatever this corporate insult that openly degrades clientele is. If they can resolve the issues, I'll happily update this review. I, however, feel there is likely too much pride and no accountability to be able to do so. Show less

Very good selection of MtG singles, and that includes newer sets. Lord of the Rings just released and they had pretty much every single I needed and let me do a trade in towards the total. Awesome staff, btw, and plenty of tables. I’ll definitely be back.

Man, I want to rate them higher. I really do, but upcharging for iced drinks and their lackluster meals has made me realize they're just okay. Absolutely stop by here if you want a hot drink though.

Wow, what a great spot! Such a friendly atmosphere, super great selection of singles for MTG. Found some of the ever elusive pokemon cards here. This place is great lots of tables and even private rooms. I have come in and been able to work during the day with no distractions. The food is great and lots of drinks available from coffee to alcoholic beverages. Plus a great selection of games and cards for sale as well.

This used to be one of my favorite places to go. I would always recommend it to people as a great place to hangout and share the space with many other hobbies. It felt like a space for fun and community first and a store second. Now it feels like those have been reversed. One of their managers is one of the worst employees I’ve met in any business. They are only kind to those that financially support the store the most and treat everyone else like a nuisance. D&J isn’t a community anymore, it’s a product that’s looking to make as much money as possible at your expense. They charge you over $12 for food you could make at home for a fraction of the cost and restrict all outside food now. I have dietary restrictions and the menu doesn’t accommodate them. As a result I have to eat outside the store with food I bought from nearby. Dungeons and Javas has lost its spark, it’s a company now, not a community. Show less

Horrible customer service. Walked in on Saturday after calling to sell some cards no one even acknowledged I walked in the door. I mean no one behind the front counter even looked in my general direction. One guy was leaning against the back shelf reading a book or pamphlet the other guy was talking with a friend. I walked up to the counter and made eye contact with the guy that was reading and I was about to say something when he immediately starts talking to a person playing on 2 cell phones on the counter looked like an app game. As soon as he was done talking with the phone guy he went straight back to reading at the back wall. The other guy honestly no idea if they were a guy/girl/other as they never turned around that kept their back to the store the entire time. After a few minutes I just left. Will not be back and just so you know I was selling some very nice MtG foil cards went to another store up the road the said Hi when I walked in and we made a deal sold my whole pre 2000 collection to that store. A lovey gaming store with a mini food area that also has great coffees. This place has a little something for all gamers. Tables for groups and fun drink names such as Flump. The food was good and the staff was friendly. Will definitely stop by again on our next trip through.

Bottom Line: This is my go-to place for gaming, specializing in RPGs of all kinds; board games; and card games (Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh), with every gaming convenience built in. The "Javas" in the name refers to the bar (coffee and alcohol) that also serves food, and while anyone can come in and order food/drink, the vibe is designed for this to be refreshments while gaming. First off, let's get to the gaming. I mainly play Magic, and I have played at several places in Colorado Springs. Dungeons & Javas (D&J) is, in my opinion, the best choice in several areas. It has the largest playing area I have seen, and they put it to use. I have attended events with more than 60 players in my event, even while they hosted another event with 30+ players simultaneously. I can't think of another store that could boast this turnout and the appropriate accommodations. Next for gaming comes the private rooms. They have several private rooms for rent to play RPGs (like the namesake Dungeons and Dragons) or board games, and they also have a selection of games off the shelf to borrow. I have not rented one yet, but I have seen several parties in there all having a blast, and I look forward to a chance for myself. Finally for gaming comes the singles counter. This is a defining area for serious gamers, and they have a great selection of singles in the case, organized binders of less valuable cards, and bulk common bins. One thing I really like is that when new Magic sets come out, they have a special section of rares they keep so that people can easily go through them (ranging from $1 to $200, everything is set aside and not in the case for the first month or so). This is really convenient for working through a collection or deck with new cards. They also have very good buy rates, especially if you do store credit (70% if I recall). Most importantly is the friendly staff helping at the singles counter. I have asked them to independently authenticate expensive cards (not for sale, so no conflict of interest), and they walked me through all their steps and spent a lot of time with me. They also have given (in my opinion) objectively good advice to kids about what cards or packs to buy, even steering them away from more expensive buys that better fit the kid's decks. As a parent, I love to see this. Then of course, there is the "Javas" section. Inside the store, there is a bar for coffee and alcohol. They come up with their own gamer-themed cocktails that are cool and interesting, and also taste great. Every time I go in there, they have expanded to a new offering, whether it's a seasonal menu, new alcohol, or new food. The food is, to my knowledge, not cooked on-prem, but the drinks are. The food is things like frozen pizza, which is a welcome snack for a long gaming session. They also have a-la-carte pastries, which I always make sure I get during a pre-release Magic event, as they are the perfect pick-me-up during a 6-hour event. Funnily, Google Reviews treats this like a restaurant in the review layout. It is one, and as I said before, anyone can come in and order - but realistically, the intent is to have a gamer convenience. This is just one of many details they get right as they set up an ideal location to game. Show less

This is just one of many details they get right as they set up an ideal location to game. Show less

I can't tell you how many people or places I've asked that that have dismissed or brushed me off with an "i don't know" or "look online" The person I asked immediately checked all the ingredients in my requested drink to make sure there was nothing I couldn't have. Just no questions asked immediately accommodated me. That's not something you see everyday Made my heart happy 💜 Show less
