4 months agoThis place was great! All-you-can-play for $8 ($12 on Friday / Saturday) with plenty of classic arcade games, about 20 pinball machines, DDR, and a selection of wacky Japanese music games that are difficult to decipher but a lot of fun if you just go with the flow. Excellent value for the money.

Consider bringing back dancing on Fridays!! Lots of places in prov do karaoke, but freeplay is the only place me and my friends go on friday to dance. Love this place, i don't want to stop going. Maybe at least do alternating weeks, honestly idt you are gona attract a crowd w karaoke like u will on special events w dancing. Like who is going to go to halloween party on friday if you dont even have a dance? Every other week would be better to "hold a line" at least, and then everyones happy. Seems strange to lose a good event just to try something new. Also why isnt karaoke downstairs, just set up a karaoke stage where one of your 3 ddr game machines no one uses is Show less

We had the Pacc man and rainbow Road for drinks. 10/10 vibes are fire. They have a designated smoking area. Have not tried the food yet. Not disability friendly all the way no room for wheelchairs or walkers Has lots of stairs. So if you have dynamic disabilities go in on a week day more space alot less people. 2nd floor closed on week days. Water is free so don't worry if you need some make sure to speak loudly and clearly for Bartenders to hear you. Bring noise canceling headphones if you have a hard time with loud noises. On the weekends the Second floor is open the moment you go to the stairs to go up u can feel and hear the music from the bottom of the stairs. My friend helped me all night and warned me when we were about to go take a break outside at the smoke area. Oh yeah large smoke area closes at 1am on the weekends. Oh and when we exited the building night life in Providence R.I. did not disappoint. We saw Dawny the duck. We saw cops helping other attendees with a race of some guys I wasn't ready and was lmao so I wasn't able to get a photo or a video. But I got some other pic's and vids of our nights out. Cover charge is cheaper on week days. Week days: 8.00 weekends: 12-15? I could be wrong. So bring 40 for some drinks and charge for entry. I belive my drink was $11, I got the Pac-Man. Alex got a rainbow road around $13, I believe we each had 2 drinks and water. I hope this is helpful to those who want to budget but still want to have a fun night out. Remember 21+ only. Also we went on a week day and the parking Next door was $22.00 that is the QR code Pic. The QR code pic is for parking next to the club. We had the best time of of our lives. Gave the vibes of the scene when Percy Jackson and his friends were in Las Vegas the movie version. Anyway I can't wait until next time. Love the amazing being that had the fluffy tail they let be play with it. Don't worry asked for consent first. I know my manners. I have autism and other disabilities, So one of my besties helped me out alot during the night I saw some girls laughing and pointing at me she helped me all night to forget about it and we continued to have a great night. I do wish they played more Chappelle Roan tho 😉 I also felt creeper out by this one guy we kept moving further away and he kept getting closer to us. Cant stand people like that but we didn't let his lame ass ruin our epic night. Show less

1 month agoJust awesome. If your old school, new school or no school this is the arcade of the 21st century. Gone are the annoying patrons of bowling alleys and kiddie arcades (you can still bring the kids) Get on in for the cheapest night of fun in Providence. You'll love it.

The drinks were excellent, and the book selection is curated with such care that browsing felt like a conversation with interesting people you wanted to know. It’s the rare kind of spot that works equally well for solitude or company — come with friends and laugh over cocktails, or come alone and leave with both a book and a new acquaintance. Either way, you should absolutely buy a book—it’s good manners, but also, it’s important. Oh, and the coffee was stellar. I’m curating my own little list of suggested movies. Witches of Eastwick is my first choice, but I’m adding Drop Dead Fred! #ewcobwebs Show less

I recently visited Small Point Café with my family and we had a wonderful time! The atmosphere of the café was cozy and inviting, with comfortable seating and tasteful decorations. I ordered the Matcha Latte and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. The matcha flavor was perfectly balanced and the frothed milk was silky smooth. My family members ordered regular lattes and they were also impressed by the quality of the coffee. One of the best things about Small Point Café is how relaxing it is. The low-key vibe of the place makes it a great spot to unwind and catch up with friends or family. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, adding to the overall positive experience. Overall, I would highly recommend Small Point Café for anyone looking for a cozy spot to enjoy high-quality coffee and drinks. The Matcha Latte was a standout for me, but I'm sure all of their drinks are just as good. I definitely plan on returning to Small Point Café in the future! Show less

We ordered two different sandwiches, and both were disappointing. You’d think it would be hard to mess up a simple egg and cheese sandwich, but somehow they managed—it wasn’t toasted properly, and the overall flavor was bland. We also tried the brownie cake, which was dry, overly sweet, and tasted like it had been sitting around for weeks. The only saving grace was the coffee and the friendly service, which is the sole reason I’m giving this place two stars instead of one. P.S. For the love of god, please do something about the ventilation—the entire café reeks of fried bacon. Show less

8 months agoThe melon matcha tonic was delicious, and they hand-whisked their matcha which I never get to see at busy cafés! My only complaint was that the flat white wasn’t great. Also, the music was not loud at all so really good for a chill study spot that isn’t overwhelming!

My wife and I were in Providence for the weekend and Free Play was on our itinerary. After stuffing our faces with some tasty pretzels from The Malted Barley, we decided to walk a few blocks over to the barcade. I'm an 80s baby and previously visited a barcade in Salem MA. I had a good time there and was hoping to do the same at Free Play and share in the experience with my wife. We walked in thru the front door and had to pause a moment as I stood there in wide-eyed wonder looking around the place. Arcade games wall to wall. Neon signs. Dim lights. It was as if I was a teenager all over again entering an arcade. The wave of nostalgia was unreal. But the big differences are that I didn't have to save my allowance and beg for a ride to the arcade. Free Play is conveniently located near downtown Providence and $12 provided UNLIMITED play. Oh--and I'm old enough to buy one of the many cocktails they pour up. After paying the cover charge to enter, we bellied up to the bar. I ordered Rainbow Road--ayo, shout out to Mario Kart--and a DownEast cider. Made our way over to Skeeball to get a few rounds in and then perused thru the venue to peep all the other games. Dig dug. Time Crisis. Marvel vs Capcom. Mortal Kombat. The Simpson. Pac Man. Galaga. Star Wars. Street Fighter. Honestly, let me just stop. Because the games they DON'T have is a shorter list. And I haven't even named all the pinball machines lined up on the wall. But let's keep it moving because just when you thought the 1st floor was a blast from the past, at 10pm the dance club inside Free Play opens. The Rewind Retro Dance Lounge is a dance club located on the 2nd floor of the barcade. Doors open for them at 10pm and remember that $12 cover we paid earlier? Yea, it covers your entrance into the night club too. Heading up the stairs I was expecting to dance the night away to the typical 80s and 90s songs every other dj tends to play. Not that they're bad--it just gets old after a while. I mean how many times can you hear "This is how we do it" or "Poison" before your eyes roll out of your head? Thankfully, that wasn't the case at the Rewind Retro Dance Lounge. We were some of the first people thru the door and made our way to the bar. I was in the middle of ordering new drinks when the dj dropped "Young Hearts Run Free" by Candi Staton. I'm pretty sure I let out an audible shriek as I jumped and ran to the dance floor. The absolute bangers didn't stop there. "Music sounds better with you", ABBA, Daft Punk, The Bee Gees, Rick Ashley, Depeche Mode. Seriously, the dj didn't miss. When was the last time you've been in a club and "Enjoy the Silence" by Depeche Mode dropped? We danced for hours and ended our night around 1am because we had some activities planned in Newport later that morning. In my opinion, Free Play Bar Arcade is worth a visit if you're in the area. We're already planning our return trip in November for my birthday. That place has no business being that damn cool. Show less

They do have parking but you have to pay. $8 cover charge and all the games are free. We made sure to get our $16 worth. Lots of different games both modern and old. Very nice that most games are for 2 players if you’re on a date. A fun spot for the price. Drinks weren’t strong and the bartender wasn’t very friendly. On his phone Everytime we walked up. I would definitely return in the future if we’re looking for something different to do. I will say the place was extreme warm. I don’t know if the machines/games put off a lot of heat but it was toasty inside. Wish I wore a t shift to be comfortable. I only had a hoody on and I was a sweaty Betty. I don't know what the weekends are like but mid week it picked up a little but never felt crowded. We enjoyed the guitar hero, air hockey, skee ball, pac man games, racing games and some random retro games. A fun and different activity to do when you’re running out of things to do then bowling, the movies, and just a bar. Show less

Thought about this place for a date night with my wife, but never came. Today is my birthday so I decided to bring my kids and wife here on Family Day, and it's so worth it!! Unlimited play for $12 a person, and my kids ranged from 1.5 yo to 27!! We were greated by Rosa at the door. She personally explained to each family the rules and where things are. Yes, even the baby got so shooting in on the Terminator game. My wife enjoyed the old school games, and my diabetic nephew enjoyed the interactive game. There's on cheese or pepperoni pizza on family day, and tons of beer options. But honestly, my 12 yo said it best "I'm too busy playing games to eat". We fed them before hand, but still munched on a pizza. Kids played for 4 hours before I said let's go. They loved it more than Dave & Busters, and as parents we loved how inexpensive it was. Cons: nonom dairy alternatives if you are lactose intolerant. Pro: The bartender, Bella, made the baby a fruit cup and he just punched on cheese less crust. Pro: The boss, Luis brought the baby a juice and water to water it down!!! Definitely family run and family focused!! Con: Super loud. Pro: Kept the baby asleep longer, he loves loud noise. Pro: tons of kids running around wearing noise canceling head phones enjoying themselves. Neurodivergent friendly if you come prepared. You kid will fit right in. Con: $3 for a small soda. Pro: Super amazing craft beer selection ... ifykyk!! Pro: My wife enjoyed two strong "fruity drinks". Drinks aren't watered down, and not over powering. Con: limited tables to sit and eat Pro: outside patio area with more seating Pro: tables turn over super quick, cause families are. there to play games Pros: Security on site. Pro: Family Operated, and so personable. The entire team of employees are friendly considering it's like Feiday on the playground at an elementary school. Organized chaos but everyone is super chill with each other on the playgroud. Lol. Pro: My wife and I snuck in "date time" while the baby napped and the older kids zoned out. I could keep going, 10/10 recommend for Family Day, low cost activity the entire family will enjoy. Spent about the cost i wouldbe to fesd 6 at a restaurant, but had waaayy more fun plus food and drinks. Try it and tell me my review was wrong, bet you will agree. I've been several times and every time it's been good. Plenty of games for every type of player. Drinks are reasonably priced for the city. Haven't had the food. There's live music some nights either on the second floor or outside. The second floor hosts some alternate events. They really nail the aesthetic of an arcade like back in the day. That being said it's not the finest establishment, just set your expectations right and it's great. There's also a family day once a month or so if you wanna bring your under 21 pals. Show less

more clubs than I can count, but this is hands down the best one I’ve ever visited. I was in Providence for a four-day weekend attending a flight simming convention, and a group of about eight of us decided to check this place out. The cover charge was super cheap, around twelve dollars if I remember right, and the drinks were strong and reasonably priced. The bar had a full selection and a long list of creative, delicious cocktails. The Terminator was my personal favorite, packed with flavor and definitely worth trying. But the real star of the show is the arcade. The variety blew me away. Everywhere you looked there was something different and exciting to play. They had old-school classics like Pac-Man and Galaga, intense fighters like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, racing games that make you feel like you’re tearing up a track, shooters with light guns, air hockey tables, skee-ball, basketball hoops, a whole row of pinball machines, and multiple Dance Dance Revolution games. It felt like stepping into the ultimate arcade fantasy, and the best part is it’s all free and unlimited once you’re inside. I could have spent the whole night just exploring all the machines. Then we discovered a huge outdoor patio buzzing with people taking turns singing karaoke on stage. The energy was amazing, and everyone was cheering each other on. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, we went upstairs and found another full bar and a dance floor where literally everyone was moving. No one was standing around trying to look cool. People were actually dancing, smiling, and just having fun. We danced for about three hours straight without stopping because the DJ was dropping one incredible track after another. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a blast from start to finish, and if you’re anywhere near Providence, you absolutely have to check it out. You will have an unforgettable time. Show less

I club A LOT, 115 nights in 2025 & Rewind always had the best vibes, music, dance floor & DJ. The arcade & games remain epic & new games are cycled through as well! I quickly became friends with DJ Mario from frequently attending every Friday. I was comfortable just being myself, lighting up the dance floor on stage with my LEDs, breaking out my bat wings, LED raving mask, or furry gear. The best part is people going there loved my energy, vibes & even thought I worked there as a performer. People would buy me drinks, take selfies, & dance with me. They encouraged me to never change & they told me I gave them confidence to do the same & dance. I know security & bar tenders are on a first name level & EVERYONE treats me with respect & genuinely happy to see me. I got many other friends & strangers to frequently attend. I am ALWAYS the 1st one up there & LAST one to leave. Truth be told, going there & dancing got me through some very dark & stressful times in my life. You can imagine the gut punch to hear that Mario is no longer DJing on Friday nights & replaced with karaoke! I mean this as no disrespect, but what made Rewind special is the epic retro music. Replacing dancing w/ karaoke all Friday night is taking everything what was special & unique about Rewind away & just doing what almost every other RI dive bar does. Dancing is still Saturdays nites, however I will not be able to attend as often due to busy weekends & it kills me not to be there every sat! Why not do karaoke only Tuesday, Thursday & Sundays, so now you have it open 5 nites? or worst case: karaoke 630 - 930 Friday/sat nite & dancing from 930 to 2 If you talk to most people in providence, WE WANT TO DANCE WEEKENDS, after long week at work. Again, no disrespect to karaoke crowd, but I would like to think my opinion is highly valued because the FACT is I have gotten many friends & strangers to come & return over the past 2 years. I remember, before I had the confidence to dance, it was ONLY dancing fri and sat, from opening to close & it was always packed! Can we go back to this original format PLEASE? Now, SADLY myself, my friends, & other great people I met there will no longer be attending on Friday nights & we will all be forced to find a subpar replacement - but there is no club in New England that can even compare! I been to all the other clubs in Providence & Boston, but Rewind has THE BEST DJ, MUSIC, VIBES & DANCE FLOOR!. I won’t be the only one to vocally share my disappointment when people walk up expecting to dance on fridays. I have to be completely open, honest & fight for something I am soo passionate about. I really felt like I was the unofficial mascot of Club Rewind. There would be times where I would attend family events or functions, & go right on over to Freeplay after, once even right after a formal function ( in a complete suite & tie), & got dressed into my raving gear on the stage & danced. I even injured myself with a significant Level 2 knee sprain tear a month ago, but threw on a CVS knee brace & was back at Rewind dancing the next night & every weekend after (not the smartest decision since it's still bothering me) but that's my dedication, passion, & loyalty! I am still giving it 5 stars cause I am CONFIDENT it will be course corrected QUICKLY through feedback of many other disappointed voices, & the heart/soul of retro music Friday nights at Rewind, will return, along with myself & many others. When it does, I PROMISE to make it by personal mission to get old and new people back there Friday nights through all my contacts and vast social media presence. I know I can get these floors packed! I am GRATEFUL for the best Friday nites of my life that helped me through tough times, for the best music, bar, dj, security & dance floor, for the friendships I made, for the confidence I gained there on the dance floor, & the warmth of strangers who enjoyed my over-the-top presence, leds, furry gear & raving outfits. I really HOPE & PRAY those EPIC AMAZING friday nights return soon....along with the dancing fox! Show less

A lot of out of order or broken games. The ones that work are sticky from booze. Well against my better judgement my wife desperately wanted to go here for her birthday and I agreed. We were asked to go back to our car parked over a mile and a half away in freezing cold temps. Because my 4’10 small wife had a small pocket knife. I mean come on we just walked the streets of providence at night. She asked if they could hold it and they said she could only put it in her car. Forget that I’ll never come back to this dump. I have my own real arcade at home I don’t need this place. Show less
