I just left Gear Gaming in Hoover and the owner was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He was very informative of any of my questions as a beginner to Warhammer 40k (especially painting) and suggested a variety of tips & tricks for me. Gear gaming will be having all of my future Warhammer/Tabletop hobby business. I prefer to support local shops anyways and highly encourage others to do the same. I highly recommend this shop and the atmosphere there was really nice. Show less

I just left Gear Gaming in Hoover and the owner was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He was very informative of any of my questions as a beginner to Warhammer 40k (especially painting) and suggested a variety of tips & tricks for me. Gear gaming will be having all of my future Warhammer/Tabletop hobby business. I prefer to support local shops anyways and highly encourage others to do the same. Quite possibly the best retail experience I've ever had. They have great stock of paints and supplies and are always willing to order whatever you ask. I had never been inside a game store of this type before this year and upon my first visit, I immediately felt welcomed and have learned a crazy amount from the staff there. All of the staff are willing to talk to you about most anything and give you tips on painting and game rules/tactics. It's my happy place! Show less

This is my favorite place to stock up. This is the best game and gear store for all tabletop game enjoyers. From the glue to the paint and plastic, if you have the money and time, you can find some enjoyable hobbies here. I love the selection of paintings and all the new figures they get in. The staff are great to talk to, and they are deeply knowledgeable about all the games they sell. Although they are far and may sell out often there is always something there for everyone. They also can help by directly ordering anything you need and will work with you. I mostly like to play Warhammer here, but it is great to go and learn other army and games at the shop too. I haven't special ordered anything but have been told it's doable. The private game room is really enjoyable, especially if you get the one with the window and can people-watch a little while you wait for your turn to roll. The restroom is clean and they sell cold Mountain Dew. That's not to be taken for granted in a game shop, my friends! The shop dog is a little shy but sweet and has a really clever name! Show less

Not to mention there’s not really a wide variety of merchandise. Come here if you want warhammer and maybe a couple of cool sets of dice. Awful experience for my first time here. Show less

I am very disappointed with the level of service I received. During my visit, an employee spoke to me in a disrespectful and dismissive manner. He told me directly that I should have already decided which cards I wanted before changing my mind, and stated that he could have sold them sooner instead ... Read more

I am very disappointed with the level of service I received. During my visit, an employee spoke to me in a disrespectful and dismissive manner. He told me directly that I should have already decided which cards I wanted before changing my mind, and stated that he could have sold them sooner instead of holding them for me for a week. Throughout the entire interaction, I remained polite and respectful. Despite this, his tone and comments were unnecessary and unprofessional. Ultimately, he handed me the cards for free, remarking that they were inexpensive (approximately $0.75), which came across as dismissive rather than courteous. I am sharing this experience because no customer should be spoken to this way, regardless of the value of the purchase. I hope this feedback helps prevent a similar situation for others. For awareness, the individual involved was an older gentleman with a service dog. Show less
