I wanted to buy 3 iteams that where on the 75% off table , they didn’t have a price on them so I went up to the counter and ask how much are they since there’s no price . He checked and said 24.99$ Each team ,I pointed out they where on the 75% off table he said ok since it was clearly labeled with yellow sticker and said 17$ . He would not budge saying the items was normal 60$ even though he said it was 24.99just a second ago , I even checked online other places and average price was 25$ . This is false advertising and horrible just raised / changed prices since he didn’t like sale something for cheap even though it was clearly marked that way false advertising ( for all three should have been $18.75 (6.25$ each)) then as you can see the owner lies in a response to this to cover there tracks , this is what to excpect when coming to this store ps they retailed at a price u named a long time ago most places retail me at 16.99 your employee first rang it up at 24.99 then after I looked up I agreed with the basic sell price was 25 so with 75% sell would be around 6$ Show less

This place is fantastic. Reminiscent of old school gaming stores. Plenty of tables and community was active on two different week nights. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. This store is a labor of love. It is clear that it was built by a lifelong hobbyist that decided to turn his/her passion into a business. I was impressed with the expansive tables for wargaming, decked out with gorgeous terrain and accompanying mats. The large collection of miniatures on display, including Forge World models and Titans!!!!!, is in of itself worth the trip to this store. As if that were not enough, the variety and and selection of merchandise is second to none. The official GW store in town has nothing on this place! Hands down, the best miniature wargaming store I've been to in the last 15 years. Show less

This store is a labor of love. It is clear that it was built by a lifelong hobbyist that decided to turn his/her passion into a business. I was impressed with the expansive tables for wargaming, decked out with gorgeous terrain and accompanying mats. The staff are slow to respond, often leaving either myself or other customers at the counter unless someone tracks down a staff member to ring them up, and display a severe lack of attention to detail. I've been to this store for a while now and I think it's time to step away. The staff are slow to respond, often leaving either myself or other customers at the counter unless someone tracks down a staff member to ring them up, and display a severe lack of attention to detail. On several occasions, items that were marked for a discount (via the discount shelves) or were to be discounted due to a special event (such as Veterans Day) were not rung up as such. And after I caught it after paying and getting a receipt, my attempts were meet with "Oh, sorry bro, but I can't give you a refund or anything." I had to talk to several staff members at one point before someone, I think the main manager, was called up and they gave permission for the staff to fix it. Again, this has occured several times, with different staff members and diffent prodcuts. It happened the last time I was there and I was just too tired to fight it. Yall have a great store. Central-ish San Antonio location, food choices around it are solid enough, and probably one of the best stores for miniature hobbisits, but your staff are far too complacent. If they were more professional, attentive, and treated the store as more as a business rather than a glorified hang out spot, I'm sure you could really stand out among the pack of San Antonio hobby stores. I've been to this store for a while now and I think it's time to step away. The staff are slow to respond, often leaving either myself or other customers at the counter unless someone tracks down a staff member to ring them up, and display a severe lack of attention to detail. We both had mentioned we were brand-new to the hobby of miniature painting but that didn't really lead into any help and had me asking more follow up questions whenever I was inquring about washes/wash mediums. Weird vibes, kinda felt as if my girlfriend and I weren't really welcome? We both had mentioned we were brand-new to the hobby of miniature painting but that didn't really lead into any help and had me asking more follow up questions whenever I was inquring about washes/wash mediums. Basically it just wasn't a great experience and it was super dark and kinda felt dusty in there. I think in a world full of shops, you should do your best to really be kind to new players. We won't be going back to heroes retreat. Show less

I preordered a kill teams box. They told me that it had arrived and it was waiting for pick up. I didn’t have a whole lot of money in at the time, so I waited another week so I could get the funds. Got the funds and turns out, they sold my preordered box. With no warning. When they called me to let me know it was in, no one told me I had a time limit to pick it up. So while I was trying to get the money, they had already sold my stuff. It is a tiny, cliquey, store that if you’re not “in” in the community, they will not care for you. Do not shop here. Show less

There was a ton of space available for the four of us, a huge array of terrain to choose from, the atmosphere was excellent with lots of other games going on around us. Some friends and I played our first game of 40K at the shop a few weeks ago and had a great time. There was a ton of space available for the four of us, a huge array of terrain to choose from, the atmosphere was excellent with lots of other games going on around us. All of the people we interacted with were super cool and were happy to answer any questions we had while learning the ropes of the game and the proximity to the food court was nice (since a 4 player game can take awhile) as we grabbed some snacks and drinks without interrupting the flow of our match. We’re planning another game in the next week and I’m really looking forward to returning and becoming a regular. A+ experience! Show less

There was a ton of space available for the four of us, a huge array of terrain to choose from, the atmosphere was excellent with lots of other games going on around us.
