7 years agoDoritos in a Mac & Cheese!? Hell yes!! Game night with friends is only better at Le Colonel Moutarde. They'll suggest you games and help you understand how to play. Their drinks are also amazing, try L'Été Indien. My tip: arrive super early! The place fills up pretty quickly.

First of all, what does the sign say? Game Salon. I went there with two friends of mine, and we were seated outside. We were then asked to move tables because a larger group arrived. This is perfectly fine. We went there to play board games and have some drinks. We didn’t go there to eat. 15 minutes after we were seated, the waitress came to the table. We wanted to get the board games first and then to order drinks, but she didn’t let us. Okay, whatever. We ordered some drinks. She came back after another 10-15 minutes saying that we didn’t order enough and that we needed to order more. There is a cover charge for the board games. We already ordered some drinks. What is “enough”? I saw people drinking beers and playing board games. So why was it an issue for us? I talked to the manager who was nice and admitted that it didn’t make sense, but still didn’t explain how much we needed to order to be eligible to play board games. Manager said their place is Restaurant first, bar second, game salon third. You should change your sign then. Also said that they’re busy and that they basically don’t wanna waste a table for people ordering a couple of drinks and playing board games. Anyways, he was kinda apologetic: he said “i know it’s a little bit our fault too”. Well it’s definitely our fault that we came to your salon de jeux. He talked in a nice tone regardless, unlike the waitress who wasn’t nice to us from the moment we said we wanted to play board games. Won’t go there ever again. There are plenty of places where you can eat (without a minimum), and places where you can play board games. Show less

I don’t like posting bad reviews especially for independent spots but there are other places way more deserving of your business in my opinion. Game masters and bartender was nice that’s what gives it 2 stars instead of 1. Vibes are bad. The management and wait staff was rude. The games are nothing special, they don’t have many popular modern board games. The lighting is dim and drab. I ordered food and my friend ordered a drink and we both paid the fee to play games. After like an hour and a half they told me I need to buy something else if I wanted to play another game because it’s how they stay in business. If you're going to force people to buy more food to stay for the games they already paid for why not just increase the cover and not have to worry about it? For a better experience go to Randolph’s for better drinks and service and upbeat vibes or go to café Yvonne for a cozy chill spot. Both are nearby this place and a way better time based on my experience Show less

She forgot to put in an order two different times. One, we never received. Though she was the only server for the entire cafe, she spent much of the time on her phone and had to be waived over to reorder drinks or food. I would have spent more money if she had been the least bit attentive. Show less

We came here expecting to play games for a couple of hours, and potentially order a little something to snack on. We had been to Randolph many times in the past, and normally just paid the entrance fee, played a couple of games, then left. We were never pressured to order drinks, food, or tip the employees. The vibe was entirely different here. We were seated and the menu was explained to us. We said we would start with water. Waiter came back and asked if we were ready to order. We said that we wanted to play a game or two first. He told us to PROMISE HIM that we would order something later, as apparently it’s policy for us to purchase something ? Nowhere was this listed on their website. He told us his colleague would come see us for a game. We waited 5 minutes, no one showed up. We had to get the game ourselves and figure out the rules. 45 minutes later, the game guy finally came to our table. Please note that at this point, we had ordered something. The game guy only came to our table once we ordered food, and took his time getting there (although the place was far from being full). Also, the games were falling apart and missing pieces. Finally, we got up to leave and paid the bill. The waiter from the beginning showed us a tip jar for his colleague who explained the games and told us that tips are encouraged. My boyfriend and I felt pressured to leave a tip. I paid the entrance fees and didn’t tip, and my boyfriend tipped 15% on the food. Please don’t come here if you want to play games and chill. Come here and expect to be basically forced to buy their overpriced food and be pressured by waiters to tip them. Show less

The servers were attentive and the game masters were very helpful in choosing and teaching us how to play every game. There was a game fee but that's totally logical. I was here with coworkers for about 4 hours and we had a lot of fun. They include tax on the menu which I think is cool. The only thing I didn't like about the atmosphere was that it was cold and the music was very loud. Show less
