The beer is excellent. The pizza is tasty but the crust often gets burnt. The music inside is always loud. But the atmosphere is great.

2 years agoMy new favorite Brewery. 🍻 I was introduced to cask beers at Macleod and I really like 'em. My new favorite Brewery. 🍻 I was introduced to cask beers at Macleod and I really like 'em. My favorite beer I've had so far is called Backwards in a Taxi. 🍺 It's a jasmine rice pilsner brewed by Steven that's amazing. So far I have purchased 12 4-packs since they're running out and I'll have to wait till next season. (See motorcycle shot - I thought I'd bring a lemon box that way it looked like I was hauling lemonade 🍋 on the ride home. This place is located in a wonderful building that has a very cool British flair. Everyone who works her is pretty dang cool. I think that is because the owners are so cool. I got a chance to meet Alistar one of the owners and he was clearly an awesome person with a unique point of view. 🇬🇧 On my first visit, Denise one of the beer-istas instantly introduced me with a fellow food & beverage entrepreneur who happened to be there at the time. I have a spicy candy company called Danger Snacks 🔥 so the intro was great. There is lots of seating indoors and outdoors as well as darts, cornhole and plenty of great food and beer. I've only shared a spicy meatball pizza once and my best friend. 🍕 We ordered it cheese-less and it was crispy and wonderful. I've met some very cool patrons here. 🍅 Hilda, Tia's Michelada founder (see Tias shot in my fridge). I met Mark Adams a former badass skateboarder now professional meat smoker/bbq'er and spicy pepper growing extraordinaire. 🌶️ I also met Gern and his dog Latka. Very cool peeps hang out at MacLeod Ale. 👊🏼🦝 So far I've been back four times and plan to return many times over even though I live over 30 miles away near Pasadena. This place is in the Valley. I plan on visiting their second location in Highland Park soon. Show less

2 years agoThe two ales I tasted were excellent. It's a brewery so it's not fancy, but oh boy do they pull in a crowd. One wall in their second room is lined with dart boards and the dj actually spins vinyl. They don't serve food (except for snacks like chips) however there is a food truck out front every night and you can bring it in like we did. This particular night it was Batterfish offering delectable fish and chips. See photo attached. Most ales are $7 for a pint and a few are $8. Open weekdays from 4 to 10 and weekends noon to 10. Update: Batterfish is no longer hanging out these days, but MacLeod's has a kitchen offering a menu of pizzas, appetizers and other goodies. Show less

I went to the Bits N Beer Retro Video Game Swap Meet again. The best deals were from the live auctions. 2/10/2024 Went during a videogame swap meet. The pizza was really good. I don't drink so that I cannot give an opinion about their draft beer.

If I had to describe this place in one sentence it would be really good pizza in a less than desirable location. We struggled to find parking and soon noticed that it wasn't the best part of town as we drove around. However, I still wanted to give it a shot so we searched until we found a spot a few blocks over. They have seating inside and additional seating outside which made for a decent sized space. I felt that it didn't give me the full brewery experience but their pizza did not disappoint. You can't always judge a book by its cover and also have to realize not every business has the opportunity to be in a prime location. We ordered the Mediterranean Vegetable and it lived up to my expectations for well executed brewery pizza. The olives were upfront in the flavors of this pizza and the dill was a nice accent. The crust was light but crispy and it got better as it cooled down. I didn't try any of the beer but my friend enjoyed their cran nuys. I would overlook the area, give this place a chance, and try the pizza out! Show less

3 months agoGood beer and good pizza, but the parking can be a nightmare. You have to find a spot on the street usually and there are homeless encampments and the area does not seem safe. I went up and down the street on a Saturday and just gave up and went somewhere else.

I'm not sure how they handle it in a busy summer night. I'm not an expert in these types of places as there is not my typical first choice but I was happy to try it. The pizza we ordered was the barbecue chicken with bacon and it was delicious. The best part about coming to these breweries is just sitting and relaxing and playing games. Show less

Good beer. The pizza is excellent. Good vibe. Would be 5, but the woman working behind the bar was rude and abrasive. Watched her tell a customer they would have to wait a couple minutes, then look down and spend that time cueing music on an iPad, right in front of them.

A local bar on a street with towing and car businesses. A hidden gem! Beer selection was good, food menu is delicious and a wide variety of pizzas, definitely try the birria pizza, not pictured is the bbq chicken! There’s also a ping pong and darts area in the back. It’s a great place for good beer and pizza! Show less

You should also try their beer cheese appetizer. Great vibes, good beer and good food is how I’ll describe this place. We took some pizza to go and everyone enjoyed it. I recommend Show less
