This place just opened a few weeks ago, and I love gaming here. Great spot to play magic and board games, plenty of space with many tables with good air flow, does not get stuffy at all, a clean and tidy place, but a little small. Good selection of MTG singles/product, decent selection of board games but glad they carry the top tier games. They also sell cold drinks and snacks, always a good thing. Great location on Ventura, parking is usually adequate, weekend parking can be difficult like most places. The store owners are nice guys, and knowledgeable. If you are looking to game, Fire & Dice is the place. Show less

This place just opened a few weeks ago, and I love gaming here. Great spot to play magic and board games, plenty of space with many tables with good air flow, does not get stuffy at all, a clean and tidy place, but a little small. Good selection of MTG singles/product, decent selection of board games but glad they carry the top tier games. They also sell cold drinks and snacks, always a good thing. I've been here a few times. Pretty bad customer service skills they don't really make you feel welcomed one example i asked what packs they had available rather than explaining he pointed to some with an annoyed face this wouldn't be an issue, but they also overprice their pokemon singles. Apparently, they have a 2$ minimum, even on 50-cent cards like V,s. Would recommend going to other cardshops in the area instead. Show less

I've been here a few times. Went in to buy a Final Fantasy MTG pack and they sold me a french pack which states does not contain certain cards a normal english pack would without informing me they were any different, even though the pack on the front is english, from Canada. This places charges $35 entry for a Pokemon TCG League Cup and only give ONE prize pack for entry. I will say their prizing is not bad for top 8 and you do get more prize packs and store credit IF you make top 8, but one single prize pack for $35 entry feels like straight up highway robbery. This places charges $35 entry for a Pokemon TCG League Cup and only give ONE prize pack for entry. I will say their prizing is not bad for top 8 and you do get more prize packs and store credit IF you make top 8, but one single prize pack for $35 entry feels like straight up highway robbery. It seems like their TCG tournaments really mainly attract the sharks and people that think they can win the whole tournament for more points and prizes, but it’s a very poor experience for others that don’t make it very far in the tournament. Safe to say that I definitely will not be coming back here to compete in their Pokemon TCG tournaments. There are other card shops that charge less than $35 entry and will give more prize packs. $35 entry fee should call for at least 2 or 3 prize packs. Show less

Not counting Game & Grounds but out of the 5 TCG stores in the area I think this one is my least favorite. They are nice enough, but they don't have the cozy vibe or the friendly vibe, the others do It feels a little corporate. Sometimes they charge above MSRP and tend to offer less in return for buy backs then the other stores do. (and they don't do yu-gi-oh which is a minus for me) They also moved really close to Bear Cave TCG, which I didn't think was cool, but I get moving can be hard and sometimes you can't really help it. That being said sometimes they have stuff in stock none of the other stores do, and that can be super helpfull at times. They also have an amazing catalog of the singes they have in stock. But yeah, I recommend checking them out allong with the other game stores in the general area. They are right next to some great cafes and boba shops!!! Show less

I’ve been coming here on Sundays for all day commander for a few weeks now and it’s a great time, only downside to Sundays though is they tend to overlap with other events so then seating becomes a nightmare—and commander Sundays ends up becoming a non-prioritized side thing. If you don’t want to run into that problem your only other option is commander on Wednesdays if you have the time unfortunately. Aside from that, while i’ve met some pretty cool people here, this is also the prime location for meeting pompous MTG players for some reason which i’ve unfortunately run into and just made the environment unfriendly. I’m sure you wont have that problem, but if you’re new try a different shop because they are not beginner friendly here. Show less

Only been here twice so far (just moved to LA) and have been very happy with their Pokemon stock and service. No where else had Hidden Fates and although the set is 3 years old now, the pricing isn't outrageous. Seeing some reviews that the cards sold here are fake? That is absolutely incorrect. I have only purchased sealed Pokemon from them (previously a booster box) and was very happy with my purchase. Maybe some people need to do research before they write? The more you know! The guys inside are nice and the location is very convenient (parking). During covid, to go support your Local Game Store is absolutely imperative. Yes times are tough for everyone right now, but if you are looking for games or collectibles or tcg's in the Los Angeles area Next Gen Games absolutely deserves your support. Show less

Next Gen is my preferred card shop with good reason. I am here 1-2 times a week for different events. The staff is very talkative and helpful. They always pay attention to you and have great suggestions. The atmosphere is amazing. There are large tables in the back for Warhammer 40k or other miniature games. The tables for card games are clean and maintained. I hear that sometimes podcasts or small videos will film in the store because of how nice it is. What is most appealing here is the regulars. You can talk to anybody and get a conversation going. People are willing to help you put together a deck, or give advice on how to draft. Absolutely the community that you want to be playing games with. Friday Night Drafts are the best spots for people just getting into Magic. They have a great Pokemon TCG selection and singles which is amazing for any kids who want to play. Show less

4 Stars because the employees and owner were extremely kind. Not 5 stars because of the clientele. Never have I been to a completely full shop on a Friday and not 1 single female was there. 4 Stars because the employees and owner were extremely kind. Not 5 stars because of the clientele. Never have I been to a completely full shop on a Friday and not 1 single female was there. None of the guys would speak to me directly other than 2 word answers or look me in the eye and the two guys next to me started making slighted comments towards me indirectly about my card selection and a few other things. I felt so uncomfortable i left before we even really started playing. (I went there for draft) The shop itself was cool. But it makes me question what time of a shop are you running that on a busy evening that you have cultivated a culture that just men attend your shop. The shop owner was wonderful and kind. This experience is why women dont get involved with mtg or other "male" oriented hobbies. Very disappointing as I was just visiting LA and that was my experience with mtg players in LA. So ladies beware! Show less

I just recently got into the hobby of collecting Pokémon cards, and today I went to Next Gen Games to ask a few questions and buy some sleeves. This was my first time ever going to a shop like that, and I was completely clueless but the gentlemen working there were incredibly helpful. They explained a lot of things I didn’t know, and they were genuinely amazing. One of them even gave me a free top loader, and when I tried to pay for the penny sleeves, the other gentleman gave me some Halloween cards to enjoy and learn from. I went in worried I would make a fool of myself, but honestly, I had the complete opposite experience. Thank you guys for an amazing first impression and for welcoming me into the card-collecting community. You guys rock!! Show less
