I am such a fan of this small shop. They have a unique variety of puzzles with lots of different piece counts, image content and piece size. Their games are well organized and labeled. They have a good selection of D&D books, some dice, utilitarian deck holders for Magic as well as a whole collection of games to rent before purchasing. The couple who owns the place are super nice and welcoming. I can't wait to go back. The space is a bit crowded for accessibility devices, and the shelves are stocked high in this small space. Some nooks and crannies will be hard to access. There are no stairs but a slight ramp to get inside and a bit of a threshold. Show less

2 years agoReally great local game store. Keeps a stock of up-to-date new games, and the regular events are fun and welcoming. We try to make the mtg nights when we can, it's a good group of players and Miles and the rest of staff are always awesome.

Miles + team are incredibly welcoming and have really added so much value to the Beaumont-Wilshire neighborhood and beyond. Personal recommendations and game demos are not uncommon. They even offer a no-frills rewards program where you get $10 for every $100 spent. And you can choose to rent a game from the rental shelf to test it out at home. It’s a win-win-win at Puddletown! Very friendly and knowledgeable owner helped me find several games based on vague descriptions and what I wanted, including recommending me to a Kickstarter page of a game that he didn't have and was unlikely to stock himself! Extremely good experiences and will happily do business here again.

I tried a couple of different stores and didn't find anything that struck my fancy, so my friend recommended Puddletown. This will be my go-to for any puzzles and games from this point forward. I was in awe of the selection, variety, and quality of the puzzle offerings. I consider myself to be a bit of a puzzler and have favorite brands and almost all of the puzzles were brands I hadn't encountered before, so I'm really excited to try them out. I went in for one puzzle and came out with three. I also was impressed by the range of games that they offer from solo to dyad to group games. The owner was so friendly and approachable. If you're looking for a new puzzle or a game or even a gift and you're not sure what to get, check out Puddletown. Show less

Honestly the store is so cute and well organized that going there is fun in and of itself. Could not recommend Puddletown Games highly enough! UPDATE 1 YR LATER: My partner and I have been enjoying Puddletown since we discovered it & I left the above review one year ago. It is by far our favorite store and we make it a priority to go often. We've discovered tons of new games that we love through the rent-a-game option and we are always able to find good gifts for friends and family. Staff often helps us pick the perfect gift game when we describe a little of what the person is like (and their recommendations have all been spot on!). The owner Miles is incredible and has even been willing to work with us to order games under some unusual circumstances. All in all, my favorite part of all of Portland is genuinely Puddletown Games. Bring yourself some simple joy and check it out!! Show less

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem for Puzzle Lovers and Game Geeks Alike! Puddletown Games & Puzzles is hands down one of the coolest, most charming stores I’ve ever stepped into. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and a staff that clearly knows their stuff — friendly, passionate, and always ready with a great recommendation. Their selection is incredible — everything from beautiful jigsaw puzzles (including unique, artsy, and locally themed ones) to a curated mix of classic board games, modern strategy hits, and quirky party favorites. Whether you're shopping for a serious gamer, a curious kid, or just looking for something fun to do on a rainy weekend, this place has you covered. I also really appreciated the thoughtful layout and how well-organized everything was — no digging through shelves or clutter. You can tell this shop is run with love. Support small business and do yourself a favor: check out Puddletown. You’ll leave with a smile and probably a new favorite game you didn’t know you needed! Show less

SO many fun, unique, and creative board games for players of all ages. The owner, Miles, is welcoming and super friendly. And of course he's knowledgeable and enthusiastic about all things board games. They also carry role playing games (a whole wall of D&D books and large jars of dice), gorgeous (and affordable!) puzzles, Pokemon and Magic cards, and plenty of other things you'd want to gather around a table with your family to play. This store is a wonderful addition to the Alameda neighborhood, and the city of Portland (ahem, Puddletown). I'm always happy to support local BIPOC-owned (and Veteran owned!) small businesses, but this place makes it extra easy and enjoyable. I'll definitely be shopping for presents here in the future.
