A community-oriented gem! I'm so glad that they moved into a larger space. The only thing more impressive than their library is the quality of recommendations by the game sommeliers. I greatly appreciate the vegetarian menu with plenty of vegan and gluten free options. The only area I would suggest for improvement is that table service can sometimes be a bit slow and inconsistent for food and drinks. I understand that the staff tries not to interrupt the flow of tames, but I often experience empty water glasses and a lack of napkins/silverware. A really nice place in the city to have a good time. We ordered their Korean spiced Cauliflower (tasted good but could have been crispier), soy chorizo and potato pasteilillos (scrumptious filling in this one), street corn nachos (tasted great but we would have liked some more toppings on the chips at the bottom), salvadorean fish tacos (loved the crispy tofu and the tartar sauce combo in this one) and their icecream and ice cream float (can be skipped). Their game collection is expansive and some of them are fun, especially if you go with a large group. There is a $7 fee per person for 3 hours of access to their games section which I found reasonable. The best part of our experience, however, was the staff. They were all so nice and explained the rules to us quite patiently. Our server constantly kept checking on whether we were doing okay and her food recommendations were commendable. She also gave me an extra scoop of ice cream toward the end (thank you!). We will go back with more people the next time. Show less

Holy crap, this place is amazing. This is the best board game bar we've been to, and we've been to many places across North America. The food is great, the drinks are great, and the game library is world-class. They're clean, complete, and they have folks on staff there to recommend games. I don't mind the library access fee if it means they can deliver this level of service. I didn't even touch on the arcade in the basement, either. The staff is great and passionate, to boot. If we lived locally we'd be regulars here for sure. The only complaint I have is the ceilimg fans in the main room cast flickering shadows across the entire room. Apart from that, the vibes are incredible. 9/10 would recommend Show less

On 01/07/2026, we decided to revisit the Queen & Rook for a quick bite. We were in the mood for pizza, and since I had tried every pie on the menu except for the fall veggie, we decided to give it a try. The fall veggie pizza comes with oyster mushrooms, roasted red peppers, red onion, spinach, and garlic housemade marinara with your choice of vegan or regular mozzarella. We opted to add vegan sausage crumbles to take it up a notch. For drinks, we chose a pot of "Computer Eyes" hot tea, which had a cute name that aligned with the restaurant's theme. The tea was made with lavender, Elderberry, peppermint, and honey, and it was absolutely excellent. It was a very relaxing tea that we enjoyed together. We also shared a turmeric golden milk latte with oat milk and honey, which was perfectly done - smooth, silky, a little bit peppery, and creamy. It was the perfect choice to warm our souls on a chilly night. The pizza itself was done perfectly, with a nice crispy crust on the underside and loaded with toppings. The extensive collection of over 2500 board games provides hours of entertainment, catering to a wide range of preferences. Additionally, the arcade in the basement takes patrons on a nostalgic trip back to the 80s and 90s with its selection of great games. For me, Queen and Rook holds a special place in my heart. On 01/07/2026, we decided to revisit the Queen & Rook for a quick bite. We were in the mood for pizza, and since I had tried every pie on the menu except for the fall veggie, we decided to give it a try. The fall veggie pizza comes with oyster mushrooms, roasted red peppers, red onion, spinach, and garlic housemade marinara with your choice of vegan or regular mozzarella. We opted to add vegan sausage crumbles to take it up a notch. For drinks, we chose a pot of "Computer Eyes" hot tea, which had a cute name that aligned with the restaurant's theme. The tea was made with lavender, Elderberry, peppermint, and honey, and it was absolutely excellent. It was a very relaxing tea that we enjoyed together. We also shared a turmeric golden milk latte with oat milk and honey, which was perfectly done - smooth, silky, a little bit peppery, and creamy. It was the perfect choice to warm our souls on a chilly night. The pizza itself was done perfectly, with a nice crispy crust on the underside and loaded with toppings.
