Like their New West store, it’s very open and so easy to find the games you’re looking for (and so much more). I have now purchased 4 games and the staff member that had helped me each time had never played the games. As someone who is new to board games all I want is someone to talk about the games with LOL. Neither of their locations are convenient for me from Richmond. I’d love to come by more often to browse. It’s such a treat compared to Strategies and Magic Stronghold. Show less

SO MANY GAMES! I spent over $100 in here and wish I bought a few more games. There were so many D&D books, card game packs, and more. Late review but my partner & I visited Rain City Games in International Village Mall during our last trip to Vancouver September Labour Day weekend. It was both our first time attending a Lorcana pre-release sealed event, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience! Host was professional, community is incredibly welcoming, and prizing was generous and not based on how competitive you were. Late review but my partner & I visited Rain City Games in International Village Mall during our last trip to Vancouver September Labour Day weekend. It was both our first time attending a Lorcana pre-release sealed event, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience! Host was professional, community is incredibly welcoming, and prizing was generous and not based on how competitive you were. I’ve been in the shop twice and despite the wide selection of games the staff, in particular their manager, seems to really be put out by asking to purchase magic singles. The first time I was told that rather than ask for available stock I should check the website before coming to the store - as it’s a waste of their time. The second time I came in I had checked in advance - and prepared a list - but was told that it would be even better if I’d ordered them in advance. The manager kept starting his sentences with ‘I’m not having a go at you..’ but it really did feel he was quite aggrieved. In both cases there were multiple staff members available, and they didn’t look busy, so I really didn’t understand the rudeness. I’ll take my money elsewhere Show less

The first time I was told that rather than ask for available stock I should check the website before coming to the store - as it’s a waste of their time. Super welcoming staff! Shout out to the staff that were cool enough to let me charge my dying phone. Riftbound events held here super well and organize. I can't sing the praises of this place highly enough!! Some friends and I visited because we had a few hours before dinner and we all love games so we came to play but it was my first time and I wasn't prepared for how EXCELLENT their indie TTRPG section would be!! Seriously, they had physical copies of Thousand Year Old Vampire, A Quiet Year, Eco Mofos!!!, A Mending (something I have been trying to get for YEARS after missing the Kickstarter), and so many more (I was so excited I forgot to take a picture but I found one so full disclosure the last picture of the TTRPG shelf is not mine but Nick Villanti's so please give his review some love). Also the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and they play great music too! I can't wait to go back!! Show less

Some friends and I visited because we had a few hours before dinner and we all love games so we came to play but it was my first time and I wasn't prepared for how EXCELLENT their indie TTRPG section would be!! Recently purchased a magic the gathering card from Rain City unfortunately it came taped to a box. I'm unsure if the card was bent during transportation by Canada post or damaged previously. It did not come in a plastic toploader. Which I found shocking. If went to a local game store they'd put any $10+ in a top loader. I sent an email requesting action but I haven't heard back. They contacted me and issued a refund. Show less

Rain City Games is my favorite local board game store! My first experience there was at their weekly (now bi-weekly) playtesting group. I was approached by staff members who made me feel welcome right away. The store has a wide variety of games and even a board game library section. I’ve purchased games and pre-ordered Kickstarter games through them, and I’ve never had any issues. Their team is friendly, knowledgeable and always happy to help. Bonus, I love how they highlight games that were created by Canadian designers and even local ones! Show less

I was approached by staff members who made me feel welcome right away. The store has a wide variety of games and even a board game library section. I’ve purchased games and pre-ordered Kickstarter games through them, and I’ve never had any issues. Their team is friendly, knowledgeable and always happy to help. Updating this review to reflect the response from the store/owners. I bought what turned out to be a resealed one piece tcg box. After an initial review the owner reached out very swiftly to resolve the situation. After giving a detail explanation and showing how the box had been resealed the owner offered me a replacement immediately which they did not need to do. It is also quite apparent that this store and its staff were not in any way responsible for the resealing, I have gotten plenty of sealed tcg products from them in the past and have never had any issues. While this situation could have turned me away from the store, the swift response and action on the part of the owner and the staff was quite eye opening and I will happily continue to buy sealed product here! I went into the store to brows around for a present for my nephew as well as the interest of multiple other things j thought brought my attention. It's very unfortunate because not only was I minding my own business the manager of the store came up to me 3 times asking me what I'm looking for and even took it a step further by calling me a drug addict junkie and telling me to leave, clearly the stigma is really how this guy chooses to profile people even when I've got money a full time job and just dropped into the store to take a look around. He's disgustingly rude he put his hand on me not once but 4 separate times after I asked me to please keep his distance but that wasn't how he was handling it. I'm very understanding when it comes to the dates since this is where I spent most my life and now I'm doing better but it's extremely unfortunate that we have these kinds of people around who have absolutely no disregard for anyone else buythself I have a video of the interaction where he's not even inside the store yet still is putting his on me and assaulting me calling me all sorts of names for looking at books Show less
