Cute establishment, service was good, nice place to study. Espresso was great, the cold brew even with light I’ve tasted like cold coffee, not at all robust. Ordered a chive and feta croissant that was cool in the center but yummy! Ordered two quiches, they were bland but worse than that, the bacon and spinach one had a layer of cheese on top which I was excited for but it felt like a mouthful of oil accompanied by very very soft egg. I tried but couldn’t finish it. The sausage was slightly better in taste and texture but the flavor was like…a whiff or secret altogether. Lots of potential for place. Show less

Don't waste your time, go to one of the 15 other coffee shops in Virginia Beach that actually respect their customers. Let me start out by saying, I used to frequent roast rider at least 2-3x a month. Every time my friend and I were in the Hilltop area, we would stop at roast rider before we went shopping. Service was always lovely prior to this incident. However, I had an experience there about a month ago when I went in with my mother that will result in my never coming back to roast rider. I ordered an iced vanilla orange blossom oat milk latte for myself, and an iced oat milk chai with hazelnut syrup. I have worked in the service industry since I was 14 years old, and never seen this level of arrogance and attitude over a couple of drinks. I was handed back two drinks with incorrect/no syrup, and told by the barista in a sharp and condescending tone (no nametag but later found out his name was Christian) when I politely asked for the syrups I ordered to be added: "You never said that. I can PROMISE you you never said that." Sighed heavily, fixed both drinks with a puss on his face. Could not have been more rude or condescending about fixing a simple error. Show less

Don't waste your time, go to one of the 15 other coffee shops in Virginia Beach that actually respect their customers. Let me start out by saying, I used to frequent roast rider at least 2-3x a month. Every time my friend and I were in the Hilltop area, we would stop at roast rider before we went shopping. Service was always lovely prior to this incident. However, I had an experience there about a month ago when I went in with my mother that will result in my never coming back to roast rider. The location in the back of the shopping area lends to a quieter, low traffic noise space. Very relaxing. I always get pretty bummed out when you order a coffee at a cafe, and whether or not you dine in or not, they still give you a paper cup, which kind of kills the mood of going to a coffee shop.
