This made us feel a bit more rushed to choose quickly, and we were asked a couple more times for last call and asked us if we wanted any dessert before we received our food. They do have a kids menu but I would say this is a more adult friendly place. I would give this place a try again at another time. We were really looking forward to visiting, especially after seeing the festive menu advertised, and the atmosphere was lovely and Christmasy - but unfortunately that was the only real positive. Despite the patio being nearly empty, we waited over five minutes before anyone seated us, and we saw the same thing happen to two other guests. We ordered from the festive menu that had been left on the table, only to be told that everything was sold out apart from the prawns - and this was at 4pm. This was incredibly disappointing, as we’d made a trip specially to try those dishes. I ended up ordering the fish and chips, which was a mistake. The batter made up half the portion, it was incredibly thick, and there was no flavour at all. My partner ordered the chowder since he couldn’t get the winter chilli, and his was also completely lacking flavour. We don’t get to treat ourselves often, so spending our money on a date that turned out like this left both of us really disappointed and honestly a bit upset. Based on our experience, I can’t recommend this place. Update: Don’t be fooled, I reached out to them a week ago, excited to hopefully take them up on their offer but they’ve ignored my emails Show less

We got a couple things -- The Royal Huntsman, and Lois Lake Steelhead. Both dishes were alright. The steelhead was overall fairly small and was a little dry. The hunstman was pretty mid. The fries were on point but the burger itself wasn't. Considering the burger is the winner of a burger challenge, you expect more from it. The charcoal bun took too much away from the body of the burger. The blue cheese and apple chips disappeared completely. Overall, I don't think this was the same burger that won the challenge. For $29, you can get better gourmet burgers in other places. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice. The old snow equipment, the fireplace and the rustic aesthetic really gives it a nice vibe. The service was great. Will we come back? Probably not on our own accord but would for another get together. Show less

We got a couple things -- The Royal Huntsman, and Lois Lake Steelhead. Both dishes were alright. The steelhead was overall fairly small and was a little dry. The hunstman was pretty mid. The fries were on point but the burger itself wasn't. Considering the burger is the winner of a burger challenge, you expect more from it. The charcoal bun took too much away from the body of the burger. The blue cheese and apple chips disappeared completely. Overall, I don't think this was the same burger that won the challenge. For $29, you can get better gourmet burgers in other places. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really nice. The old snow equipment, the fireplace and the rustic aesthetic really gives it a nice vibe. The service was great. Will we come back? Probably not on our own accord but would for another get together. Show less

Atmosphere & Service: Arrived here for the December winter lodge seasonal menu, place was very festive. Atmosphere gave off a great impression. It would be 5 starts for the atmosphere but place was a bit chilly. Although there are blankets and fireplaces. Service was good. Not anything over the top but servers did check up on the table multiple times. Very friendly as well. Food & drinks: Seasonal drinks were good. We ordered mulled wine and the cabin coco. Both drinks were very good and exactly what I expected. Our friends got The Lift Ticket and presentation was also very nice ! Unfortunately food was not good! I was actually very disappointed. We ordered the Winter Thyme garlic butter prawns and Brie & BC cranberry stuffed chicken Roulade. Prawns were a disappointment. I did not taste much garlic in it. The over all taste was Thyme and the wine. It was very watery as well from the wine. I think it would have been a bit better slightly cooked down a bit more. Or it would have been better if there was more of a garlic aroma. Same with the bread that came with it. I was hoping to taste more of a buttery garlic flavour. But did not taste that. The chicken was also a very big disappointment. The meat was extremely dry. Apart from that the vegetables were actually very good and well cooked with a good crunch on the zucchini’s and carrots. I also tried the burgers and fries, and the duck poutine. I was disappointed with the meat inside the burgers. All burgers at the table were all dry and the meat did not taste seasoned enough. It felt like it was lacking salt. Meat in the duck poutine was also dry. All fries were very good though. They had great presentation and had a good crunch to it while being light and fluffy on the inside. Show less

We went here in December during their Winter Lodge re-theming, and it was just delightful with lots of Christmas decor inside and in the enclosed patio and a cheerful fire burning in the hearth. It was the perfect Christmas-time ambience. We actually didn't order any of the special dishes for the holiday theming but stuck with the menu standards and loved everything we had. The spinach artichoke dip was the best I've ever had anywhere with perfect balance of creaminess and a lemony tang and served with nicely spiced tortilla chips. Everyone around us was ordering Lord Stanley's burger, and so I had to try it too, and it was wonderful. A great piece of Wagyu beef with the perfect accompaniments, including nicely melted cheese, bacon, raw onion, and tomato. The Caesar salad was also good and really huge. Their cocktail menu includes dessert coffees; Stanley's Monte Cristo is close to my all-time favorite. So I had them switch out Kahlua for Amaretto and ended up with what we call a Cafe Jessica: coffee, Grand Marnier, Amaretto, and whipped cream. It's the perfect combination.
