Initially I went to buy a Warhammer board game and the guys were extremely helpful. When my son opened the box the deck of cards which had a wrapper around the set was ripped. There was NO plastic wrap around the box when we bought it and only tape on the side which was not even tightly taped. We thought some items were missing so we brought it back where they inspected it and opened the sealed game board where the missing pieces were. We had intended to possibly upgrade to a larger more complex set as my son had a chance to look at the actual game now as it was opened in their store. I was informed that we cannot exchange it now that it was opened. The employee opened it at the store himself. There was no plastic wrap around the box when we bought it and the wrap around the cards was already ripped. Their explanation as to why the band was ripped was that it "must have happened in transport." Pathetic excuse, and a stretch at best.The box had obviously been opened previously but they refused to take it back if we even wanted to upgrade. Absolutely horrible customer service and short sighted! We would have upgraded to the next level of a Warhammer game but will need to take business elsewhere now. A little flexibility would have gone a long way as we came looking to make sure pieces were not missing and to get a more complex and higher level set. Show less

I've been coming to Strategies for a while but I don't find the staff to be all that friendly or engaging. In my experience, they don't seem to try very hard to foster loyalty, rapport or repeat business. For example, despite having spent hundreds of dollars there, I had to negotiate pretty hard just to return one unopened paint pot. This experience, combined with their pretty high prices, makes me want to look at discount online retailers instead. Still, 3 stars for a good selection in stock. Show less

I've been coming to Strategies for a while but I don't find the staff to be all that friendly or engaging. In my experience, they don't seem to try very hard to foster loyalty, rapport or repeat business. For example, despite having spent hundreds of dollars there, I had to negotiate pretty hard just to return one unopened paint pot. This experience, combined with their pretty high prices, makes me want to look at discount online retailers instead. Still, 3 stars for a good selection in stock. Show less

They have an amazing selection of board games but their prices are quite high. Much higher than another popular game store on Kingsway. While there are many games available here, and staff are generally welcoming and knowledgeable, the prices are higher than most other places. For example, Ticket to Ride is cheaper by $6 at Welks down the street. Also, they have a strict return policy that doesn't allow room for any disappointment with the product if it is opened. I have spent tons of money there, but now won't return, because a game they offer there is defective, and they told me to contact the game maker for help instead. I understand rent in Vancouver is high and they are a small business. But what makes one return to a small business, where I have to pay for parking and fight traffic, is the service. So, next time, sadly, I will use Amazon. The price was better and they would have allowed a return. Show less
