3 years agoOn June 10th, the bouncer of this establishment refused someone entrance to the bar because they are of Hispanic descent. She was absolutely rude, racist and disrespectful. Please avoid this place if you’re BIPOC. This place is not friendly or welcoming to be people of color.

6 years agoI used to come here with coworkers after a long day at work, and loved it! It's simple, has a nice patio, good selection of beers and cider, and good prices. I only wish I still worked close by, because I miss it!

6 years agoGreat spot to hang with some friends and relax. Chose between sidewalk tables or inside tables. I believe patio in back is very nice but we did not venture there on this trip. The bar is not buillt into a deep dark hole as the name implies, but rather is just a couple steps down from street level.

9 years agoBasement has a great back patio, good beer selection and is always playing music I like. What more do you need in a bar?! Bartenders are friendly and you can tell they care about their jobs. This is a great place for a regular get together with your friends.

6 years agoVery awesomely divey. Great imperial pint deals, great out-front seating with umbrellas. Even better put back enclosed and heated out-back seating. I hear the curry is great, and sometimes vegan, but don't know myself.

If you’re going out and forgot to have dinner, get the Tikka Masala. No bar food I've yet had compares, and it's only $10! The back patio is a nice spot to get away from the noise, if you don’t mind cigarette smoke. And the fish tank could keep me occupied for hours, if it wasn't right in front of where people line up for the bar. Overall, if you like cheap beer and a laid back atmosphere, but sometimes find dive bars a little too dingy or sad, this is your spot! Show less

7 years agoThis place has surprisingly good Indian food. The patio is also amazing, but it can get a little smoky from cigs. Hipster bar where you will probably find insustry people in their twenties mixed with 30 somethings reading a book or drawing.

6 months agoThe basement is a great place. The drinks are cheap, happy hour is long, and the service is fantastic. 20 oz pours, board games, and chill vibes (and no drama). Outside seating is spacious and perfect for a smoke. Some might say this is their “heaven bar.”

This was such a cool bar! Fred and I stopped for these very large cider and ipa. The bar maid was super nice and super quick for a refill . They have board games imbedded in the tables clue. Chess, life, ext. Fred and I will love coming back for some more drinks and games.

I really like this bar. Definitely one of my favorites in the area. Their food is simple but delicious and nutritious. It has never made me feel bad like some places that taste great but at ultimately too fatty or salty. For 13 bucks you can get a tiki Marsala and with a 20 oz beer its under $20. The ambiance is the perfect dive-y bar. It's clean, the service is prompt and the drinks are solid. The back patio is cool and the benches on 12th are also a great place to chill and meet people. Prices are good and happy hour is also stellar. My one and only complaint and it's not really a complaint, is I've wanted to go for a late lunch a few times and I'm always disappointed when I remember it doesn't open til 3PM. Probably a good thing to be honest. Bars like this are was make Portland what it is. Keep it up, we love it. Thank you ♥️. Show less
