11 months agoThe Battleground Cafe is a great game play space. Their pizza is pretty good and the staff are friendly as well as knowledgeable. They have a great space and fun activities each night of the week.

1 year agoBest place for tabletop gaming in the Twin Cities. Great selection of food, large diverse selection of tabletop games to purchase, whether you're card, book, or miniature based gaming. Friendly staff, and great environment to gather and okay for a few hours.

I first noticed this place about a year ago while driving past. Since then, I've come here regularly for gaming and food. I've always felt welcome as have my friends; the staff have been consistently friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. The cafe has numerous games to borrow and of course you may bring your own; there are plenty of roomy, well-lit tables. It's worth coming here for the food too - in addition to Heggie's pizzas, there are a variety of delicious sandwiches, snacks, and beverages available. Show less

I first noticed this place about a year ago while driving past. Since then, I've come here regularly for gaming and food. I've always felt welcome as have my friends; the staff have been consistently friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. The cafe has numerous games to borrow and of course you may bring your own; there are plenty of roomy, well-lit tables. 1 year agoLove this place. The staff is so nice, great menu, cool selection of bottled sodas, treats, snacks, etc. Tons of tables which are well built, not a bunch of wobbly tables and folding chairs. Huge selection of games to play including kids' games.

Really welcoming staff and I really loved the community environment as a newer MtG player! I super appreciate the store policy on proxies (“ask people about using before you play at each table but otherwise fine”) during game nights since it allows everyone to play the game how they feel comfortable while still giving newer players a chance to get involved if they don’t have financial investment within the game yet. Voting-based rewards for commander is also awesome and encourages a lot of positive behavior. Most of the people I’ve played with have been very kind and patient, and all store ground rules have felt appropriate (even if I’m accidentally too loud sometimes, sorry guys!) Great tcg location and hope to continue to see it grow :) Show less

I super appreciate the store policy on proxies (“ask people about using before you play at each table but otherwise fine”) during game nights since it allows everyone to play the game how they feel comfortable while still giving newer players a chance to get involved if they don’t have financial investment within the game yet. 2 years agoFavorite place for date night. Super chill, nerdy environment with friendly staff. It’s entirely free to come play games here, but definitely show your support by buying a snack or drink from them. They also sell some unique board games if you want to try something new.

8 months agoThis place is actually pretty incredible. Staff is always helpful. Lots of table space with premium handmade wood tables. And the food.... my god.... the food is better than some restaurants in the area. And there's more snack options than some gas stations.

11 months agoYeah I’m good on this store. Drove for a prerelease for a late entry, cause I just got off work. Was hoping to enjoy the set and hopefully find an ugin. But was told i couldn’t enter with 15 minutes of deck construction, and there was an even amount of people. And was offered a kit of jeskai that ob... Read more
Yeah I’m good on this store. Drove for a prerelease for a late entry, cause I just got off work. Was hoping to enjoy the set and hopefully find an ugin. But was told i couldn’t enter with 15 minutes of deck construction, and there was an even amount of people. And was offered a kit of jeskai that obviously no one wanted. And was still charged at prerelease value ($37.50 is egregious) (especially when you’re losing a mythic spot cause you get a seeded pack this prerelease) even though I didn’t get to join. And I as a collector don’t really appreciate walking in hoping to find a foil and not finding any (Much less selling them one), cause they don’t buy foils, also being sold mild/moderate play cards of collectible pieces, and paying light play/near mint. Should’ve just gone to Tony’s at GameRelated he would welcomed me by name, and let me late join. Won’t make the mistake going forward… Show less

7 months agoGreat place to go for throwing some dice or MGC. Staff is super friendly and the menu may be small but it's the perfect amount of items to choose from. Very great open atmosphere both in terms of people and area

2 years agoThis was my 1st visit but I was impressed with the huge area for gaming. I guess they've been in business for 6 years, this place is here to stay. Well worth the trip! I guarantee I will be back

2 months agoIf you are looking to play chess, groups of players meet on Tuesday nights starting at around 6 pm and typically play ten minute games. Clocks are used in most cases but not all games. Staff is friendly and offer pizza, sandwiches, plenty of sweets, snacks, coffee, tea and soft drinks.

9 months agoFirst time popping in. Played some MTG with some nice peeps. Only thing preventing 5* would be price tags. Some items didnt have prices, which I coulda asked, but during registrations it gets kinda crowded at the counter. I shall return.

5 months agoGood selection of Warhammer, paints, and a variety of card games. Staff were very pleasant. The space has tons of gaming tables. I stopped in for paints and basing materials for some 40k models. It seems like they sell under GW MSRP which is very nice!
