I wish I could give this place zero stars. The atmosphere is quiet which is nice and good for studying. It’s very grunge looking and kind of dirty, though. Their chai latte absolutely abhorrent. It was the nastiest chai i’ve ever had. I don’t think it was chai, more of a brown water. It’s as if the ... Read more

Even when it came time to receive some service, he and the other employee were just chatting like a customer wasn’t present. Very terrible experience customer service wise and taste wise. 0/10. I won’t ever return and I don’t recommend anyone else to either. Show less

Eerie late night coffee shop, it’s dark and has a closed in feel, but happy that they were open for a late night coffee while on the road, the Rotiboy bun was not good unfortunately. There was a healthy amount of people here, all appeared to be locals

I love the bun shop but recently the baristas have been extremely nasty. Cutting me off mid order, getting allergy sensitive ingredients wrong, and just being snippy overall. Im there days when its completely dead inside so there's really no excuse. Sucks because I used to love this place

If you need a space to chill , escape at any time of day and have a group meeting or planing session and has access to some lovely treats and rinks and wifi. Study , zone out meet and first date and just be free to be you ...the owner here always outdoes himself!!!

The first thing that might attract you to this shop is the fancy gold leaf window sign. Once you open the door, what will keep you there are the amazing smells and the chill atmosphere. I had an iced vietnamese coffee, a rotiboy and a breakfast bun. My coffee was delicious and perfect for the warm weather. The rotiboy was soft and flaky and had a delicate sweetness to it that I really enjoyed paired with my coffee. The breakfast bun was delicious as well. First off everything smelled amazing! It was filled with eggs, a little bit of peppers and onions and steak. Service was great as well. It was my first time here and the fellow behind the counter gave me the bun suggestions. Will make it a point to visit here whenever I am in the area. Show less

If you market yourself as a late night Cafe, you should probably have more than one person working in the evening. There were only two people in front of me and it took ten minutes to be served. Then they were out of all the food items I had spent all that time considering. Coffee was good though.

Cool spot to hang. Bad coffee though and at the end of the day it’s a coffee shop 😂 *I drink coffee black so perhaps it’s bearable with milk and cream and sugar and the likes.

Coffee and some buns were great, but due to one-person service, it may not possible to show best hospitality with the single employee's workload. Hopefully next time I see two people attached with smile.

However, it's SO dirty. The tables are almost always greasy. A giant centipede literally crawled under me and across the table. Some cleanliness would elevate the place a lot. Also, making some of the spot lighting brighter would help studiers. That way, the lights could illuminate the tabletop very well, but the rest of the shop could maintain its dim, cozy vibe. Coffee was ok. The Mac and cheese bun was interesting but hadn’t been heated properly. Also, if you’re here to work and need to connect on a VPN, just forget it. It won’t connect. I won’t be coming back and wouldn’t recommend this place to others either.

While I love love love the bun shop and regularly find this to be a perfect place to study and get some work done or catch up with friends, they have never once had heat in the winter. In the winter evenings and nights, patrons must sport winter coats in layers, hats, scarves and even gloves indoors. It’s more bearable in the summer but there is little ac and it can become a prominent problem. Also, the WiFi is hit or miss in terms of whether it will allow you to access websites, be prepared to use a hotspot if necessary. They do have PLENTY of outlets and seating which is a great benefit. Moreover, the bathroom situation is dismal. The smell alone could kill, it often is out of soap and toilet paper because the employees are understaffed and cannot step away to help. The employees are all very kind and helpful but have not been trained consistently and some of them make much better drinks than others… Another small gripe, the music is always too loud and never a good playlist. I do enjoy the drinks, food, and extended hours! There truly is no business similar to the bun shop in that regard and ultimately keeps me coming back however I cannot give a better score given the problems mentioned above. Show less

Very comfortable local coffee ☕ and Tea shop close to midtown University of Maryland Midtown Medical Campus. The street is a business district street. 3 mins from John Hopkins Medical Campus. MICA is 2 minutes away. The location looks historical inside with an original glass case and some very old antique metal tables. Black colored walls and ceiling for a comfortable and dark mood, comfortable study location. It's not dirty. It's just antique and old for people that don't understand how glass gets after 50+ years. The hot chocolate 🍫 was tasty and did not have that syrup or powder flavor of Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. They offer different kinds of milk if that is your preference. Their music was tasteful and light jazz and not blasting. Conducive to good studying without blasting music like Starbucks which I hate. Minimal power. A few power banks strips all over the floor. Slight trip hazard so please be careful. Customers were a mix of students and older folks studying or just relaxing and reading. Mostly students studying quietly and not loud if they were in a group. Restrooms in the rear. Overall, a good place that is open late. I'm not sure what the sister was talking about racism below. I think it has more to do with your attitude and how you communicate here from my own experience. The gentleman with tattoos serving me greeted me and was professional. Who needs more than that? Hot cocoa was about $4.50 I believe. Not bad. Businesses don't run on air. Show less

The Bun Shop has a unique atmosphere that feels like a blend of Edgar Allan Poe and industrial chic—dark, moody, and a little mysterious, yet still cozy in its own way. It’s the kind of place where people gather to chat, read, or work quietly on laptops. There’s plenty of seating, and the fact that they’re open until 3 AM makes it an incredible spot for late-night studying or working when everywhere else is closed. They offer a variety of coffee and tea drinks (menu photos attached), but I came specifically to try the buns. I visited after dinner and there were eight bun options still available. I asked about sweet ones, and they let me know the Apple Turnover and the Roti Boy were the only sweet(ish) ones left. I went with their signature Roti Boy, which was a soft, buttery bun topped with a light espresso-flavored craquelin. It wasn’t overly sweet—not quite a dessert bun, but enjoyable if you’re into more subtle flavors. (A coffee-flavored cream-filled version would be a good option.) The bun was a little under $5 with tax. The savory buns mostly contained meat, so they’re not particularly vegetarian- or vegan-friendly based on what was available when I visited. That said, I’d be curious to come back during the day to see if there are more options, especially for those with dietary preferences. The staff was helpful and patient when answering questions about the menu. Overall, The Bun Shop is a cool, quiet, and distinctive place—perfect for a late-night bite or a long study session with some ambiance. Show less
