Cocktail Geeks is such a brilliant concept — every month they completely reinvent themselves with a new theme, and this month’s Stranger Things takeover is fantastic. The creativity and attention to detail in both the drinks and the décor are on another level. Each cocktail feels like part of the story, playful but still beautifully balanced and expertly made. The staff are clearly passionate about their craft and love talking you through the menu. A must-visit for cocktail fans and anyone who enjoys a fun, immersive night out in Edinburgh. I loved that the concept was classic 80s cocktail and the “upside down” versions of them. Extremely creative ! P.S you can turn any cocktail nonalcoholic for 10 GBP. Which is inclusive and lovely. Edinburgh is one of our favourite cities and we tend to do a lot of the same things that we love when we visit. However neither myself or my husband had been here before and it was the BEST thing we did on our most recent trip! So much so that we said we would plan a trip solely around revisiting to experience another theme. If we could’ve got another booking whilst we were up in Edinburgh we would have gone on consecutive nights. We went whilst it was the ‘Stranger Things’ theme and it was truly awesome. So much thought and effort had gone into the decor, cocktail menu and music surrounding the theme. The menu was so inventive! When you ordered a drink you didn’t just get a cocktail, it was a whole experience with the staff giving stories behind the inspiration for each cocktail linked to the show and some surprise extras too. We went for all of the ‘upside down’ versions, but they had a great selection of classic cocktails and non-alcoholic options. We genuinely looked forward to getting our cocktails not just because they were delicious, but because of the story we would get with it. You definitely need to book in advance to get a spot, however despite a full bar the service was attentive and rapid. We sat upstairs which had a cosy vibe and despite being away from the main bar area, we at no point had to wait for someone to take our order as the staff were so proactive. It was evident that the staff loved their job and gave so much energy into the service and they truly made our experience. We noticed on our way out that part of the decor was a custom ‘Stranger Things’ themed poster of all of the staff, which just solidified for us what an awesome place it is. Edinburgh is one of our favourite cities and we tend to do a lot of the same things that we love when we visit. However neither myself or my husband had been here before and it was the BEST thing we did on our most recent trip! So much so that we said we would plan a trip solely around revisiting to experience another theme. If we could’ve got another booking whilst we were up in Edinburgh we would have gone on consecutive nights. We went whilst it was the ‘Stranger Things’ theme and it was truly awesome. So much thought and effort had gone into the decor, cocktail menu and music surrounding the theme. The menu was so inventive! When you ordered a drink you didn’t just get a cocktail, it was a whole experience with the staff giving stories behind the inspiration for each cocktail linked to the show and some surprise extras too. We went for all of the ‘upside down’ versions, but they had a great selection of classic cocktails and non-alcoholic options. We genuinely looked forward to getting our cocktails not just because they were delicious, but because of the story we would get with it.
