I was a big fan of their Smithfield location, so this was a massive let-down. We were there as a group of 7 and had pre-booked a party package. The food arrived over an hour late, despite asking the host twice when and where it would be. When it finally arrived, it was freezing cold. We asked for replacements and were met with attitude from staff. Eventually the food was changed, but it wasn’t much warmer. Getting a drink was also a disaster — bar staff refused to give us limes with vodkas, saying they were being saved for cocktails, which is honestly ridiculous. I was really looking forward to their return as I was a regular at the Smithfield venue, but this was a huge disappointment. Won’t be back to the IFSC location. Show less

Came mainly for DDR as there is no DDR in Dublin. So when Token opened back up, I was excited only to find that the screen was having issues and couldn't be played. Pads are very recessed and slightly under-sensitive. I noticed 2 other machines were boot looping as well. 1 token for 1 race on Mario seems very expensive. Could spend too much money if you aren't careful. Time Crisis was in perfect condition though with great calibration. Guitar Hero was in a fantastic location and the machine is working perfectly. Get your DDR machine sorted and I'll bring the rhythm game community for a DDR meetup and increase my rating to 5 star. Show less

I’ve been to Token several times because I genuinely enjoy arcade bars and especially playing Xbox. The food, drinks, and overall atmosphere are great, which is why I kept coming back. Unfortunately, my experiences with one staff member, one manager, have completely changed that. This was not the first issue. On a previous visit, her service when pouring my beer was unpleasant, dismissive, and openly rude. I chose to ignore it at the time and enjoy the venue anyway. However, during my last visit, things escalated. While I was playing Xbox, this person repeatedly stared at me in a way that felt uncomfortable and invasive. There was no queue, no one waiting to play, and no indication that I needed to stop, yet her passive-aggressive attitude made the situation tense and unpleasant. I felt so uncomfortable that I decided to leave. It’s disappointing, because the venue itself is enjoyable, but repeated poor treatment from the same staff member is unacceptable. One person with a consistently bad attitude is enough to ruin the experience for customers. For that reason, I won’t be returning... Show less

I’ve been to Token several times because I genuinely enjoy arcade bars and especially playing Xbox. The food, drinks, and overall atmosphere are great, which is why I kept coming back. Unfortunately, my experiences with one staff member, one manager, have completely changed that. This was not the first issue. On a previous visit, her service when pouring my beer was unpleasant, dismissive, and openly rude. I chose to ignore it at the time and enjoy the venue anyway. Our group went mainly for the karaoke. In terms of booking it and the cost, this was really good and easy. But we had issues with the microphones not working properly. We had to countless times ask an employee to help fix our problem and they all seemed also pretty clueless on how to fix the issue. Most of our time was spent trying to find a solution to this issue, so it wasn't as great as it should have been. Eventually they did comp the bill. It was a very nice, big room. Only could finish half because both my partner and I were sick and had to leave urgently after spending 2 hours there and we aren’t sure if it was the funny tasting beer or something else. Someone also served us while rolling a cigarette found that odd. The staff did seem either lost or indiferent to their jobs. The layout of the arcades is poor and hard to access and only one game we managed to get 2 player working. Show less

I visited Token this past Sunday after its long-awaited reopening, and I honestly can’t believe how disastrous the experience was. Token used to be my favourite bar in Dublin — great food, quick service, and a brilliantly laid-out arcade space. I was genuinely excited to see it return in a new location. Unfortunately, this is Token in name only. The food was sub-par and wildly overpriced. I ordered the vegan tenders, which were clearly frozen — a huge step down from the fresh, house-made food the original Token was known for. Ordering is now done through an app, where you’re required to pay upfront and are immediately prompted for a tip, despite the poor service that followed. Food service overall was awful. A friend ordered the three dips for €5 and was served the wrong ones. After waiting over 10 minutes for the waiter to return, we noticed him standing around and had to approach him ourselves, only to be told “oh, we have none left” — after the order had already been paid for. No reimbursement offered. To make matters worse, we also saw a waiter eat a fry off a customer’s plate while trying to find the correct table, which completely turned us off our food. The bar service was genuinely some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. I waited 10 minutes for a pint of water, with only one customer ahead of me. It took them five minutes just to serve her two shots of sambuca, despite there being six staff members behind the bar at the time. They’d also already run out of Token beer after being open for just two days, which is honestly laughable. The arcade layout is atrocious. There’s no space to move past people playing games, meaning if you’re seated at an adjacent booth you’re effectively trapped. On top of that, nearly every machine we tried either swallowed tokens or refused to accept them at all. We didn’t even manage to play a single two-player game together. It feels like the machines were pulled straight from storage and installed without any testing whatsoever. What makes all of this worse is that this visit took place on a relatively quiet Sunday afternoon. If this is the standard when it’s calm, I can’t even imagine how bad it would be on a busy evening. Overall, an absolutely horrendous and deeply disappointing experience. Token is not back. Calling this the same bar should be a crime. Based on what I saw, I’d be shocked if this place lasts six months. Show less

I never write reviews but my experience with the new token was so frustrating that I had to write it for people to save their money and time. It's a shame because the previous token was good fun and had wonderful memories which is why we tried this one out. First off, music was way too loud and couldn't hear a word anyone said. Then, it took 30 minutes for the staff to bring out a glass of sparkling water and a cocktail "soda pop", that they serve in a can which they could have mentioned before you spent €14 on it. I understand they may be busy with other orders but not once did any staff come down to us to maybe ask if we wanted to order anything/ if they could help. They gave us menus so you would expect the staff to come around and ask you for drinks/food but guess not! The food arrived 50 minutes since we arrived which was served like it was meant for kids. I had to question myself why I was even eating the pizza I got as it wasn't good so I couldn't even finish it. The whole experience kind of ruined our evening so we didn't even want to try any of the games so we just left. The only positive I can say is that it makes you appreciate actual good restaurants/bars that serve good food and that have an enjoyable atmosphere to chat in. Definitely avoid this spot for moment. It's a shame because the previous token was good fun and had wonderful memories which is why we tried this one out. First off, music was way too loud and couldn't hear a word anyone said. Then, it took 30 minutes for the staff to bring out a glass of sparkling water and a cocktail "soda pop", that they serve in a can which they could have mentioned before you spent €14 on it. I understand they may be busy with other orders but not once did any staff come down to us to maybe ask if we wanted to order anything/ if they could help. They gave us menus so you would expect the staff to come around and ask you for drinks/food but guess not! The food arrived 50 minutes since we arrived which was served like it was meant for kids. I had to question myself why I was even eating the pizza I got as it wasn't good so I couldn't even finish it. The whole experience kind of ruined our evening so we didn't even want to try any of the games so we just left. The only positive I can say is that it makes you appreciate actual good restaurants/bars that serve good food and that have an enjoyable atmosphere to chat in. Definitely avoid this spot for moment. A disappointing experience regardless. ​I want to be fair with this review— I understand that any business faces teething issues when moving to a new location. However, if you are expecting the same experience we loved at Token in Smithfield, you should lower your expectations. ​The Layout & Atmosphere I had my doubts when I heard they were taking over the old Lagoona site. Anyone familiar with that space knows the layout is a nightmare for an arcade, and unfortunately, that proved true. They’ve tried to pack too many ideas into the space; it’s over-congested with impassable choke points, even when it isn’t at full capacity. ​The Service Experience Our night started with a 10-minute wait at the bar just to be acknowledged. After inquiring about our table booking, we were told to wait by an empty hostess/dj booth?, only to be told 10 minutes later that they actually didn't have space for us due to large groups. ​We settled for bar seating just so we could eat, but the organization was non-existent: ​The Sequence: Our dessert (chocolate brownie) was served first after 20 minutes. ​The Confusion: We were then brought a Banoffee pie we didn't order. Despite our digital docket clearly listing a burger and fries, the staff seemed lost. ​The Result: By the time our actual mains arrived 10 minutes later, the ice cream on our brownie had completely melted. It was unorganized and frustrating. ​The Food (The Biggest Letdown) Token used to be my gold standard for bacon jam and parmesan fries. What I received last night was embarrassing: frozen-style chips topped with thin onions in a sticky glaze, no sign of bacon, and a tasteless white sauce. ​The "Smash Burger" (€16) was equally poor. It was a single, mediocre, incorrectly cooked thin patty with barely any sauce. It feels as though they kept the old Lagoona menu/recipes and simply rebranded them. On the bright side, my partner enjoyed the brownie, though it felt like a standard "bought-in" dessert. ​Facilities & Drinks The drinks were fine, though several taps (including Token’s own beer) were unavailable. Most concerningly, the toilets were in a disgraceful state—both the men’s and women’s were poorly maintained. ​Verdict Right now, it feels like the soul of Token didn't make the move from Smithfield. Between the cramped layout and the steep drop-off in food quality, I find it hard to justify the price point. It used to be "come for the food, stay for the games" Now it feels like "come for the games, don't pay attention to anything else" I will go back simply because it's now my closest pub and local and it's worth giving it another chance maybe after a little more time has passed. I've no doubt there is more improvements But make no mistake, if this was the experience I had in the Smithfield token I'd never go back. For people whose first experience of token is this, fix the problems or you will find it very difficult to keep people coming back. Show less

The staff are attentive and positive, even through the busiest of evenings and see to anyone they can. The bar staff are so well knowledged and even (on request) explain what makes (x) so suitable to what you want. Menu is similar but a little different in the best way with so much more variety and attentiveness. Chefs have done an amazing job on all few times I was there.
